Wow .. How embarrassing is that to be named on a civil suit on a companies website .

I am no longer active on these forums, but I thought it would be useful to bring attention to this issue.

Many so-called 'employee' Microtech knives were exchanged on this forum, often for thousands of dollars. These knives were created using components that were never authorized for sale. Note that this is different from knives which have had parts merely exchanged from other complete, salable knives. Plenty of anecdotal evidence existed prior to this announcement that these knives will not be serviced by Microtech, or will be confiscated by Microtech upon receipt for service, and that they consider these knives stolen property; I warned as much in PMs to sellers and moderators several times.

If you are a member who has purchased one of these 'employee' knives, it would be a good idea to contact the seller as they have misrepresented the product they have sold to you.

^ WOW- thank you for posting this! This is definitely some interesting, & very useful information to know! Does anyone here happen to know, whether this former Microtech employee (Tim Flynn), has a BladeForums user account; or any other forum accounts for that matter?

Lanham Act Violations

January 20, 2016/0 Comments/in News & Events /by mic999XXc

Microtech Knives and Marfione Custom Knives are committed to protecting both their customers and their brands. In late December of 2015, it came to our attention that a former employee, Tim Flynn, is selling Microtech and Marfione Custom knives built with parts claimed to have been acquired “from 6 years of Microtech dumpster diving” and other dubious sources.

Our customers must be able to rely on the Microtech and Marfione Customs brands. We do our utmost to build extremely high quality knives and we will similarly do our utmost to prevent people from being duped by counterfeits and knives of questionable origin or quality.

The primary reason that we personally produce 98% of every component of Microtech and Marfione Customs knives is to ensure quality, workmanship, fit and function.

Microtech and Marfione Customs filed a civil action on January 12, 2016 in the Federal Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Flynn for violations of the Lanham Act as well as for breach of a signed agreement.

We are not seeking monetary damages. The objective of the lawsuit is to stop the sale of non-genuine Microtech and Marfione Customs knives by Flynn and to prevent any further use of components or parts he removed from our facility in Bradford, PA.

It has always been our written policy that “All scrap material and parts remain the property of the Company”. All employees must acknowledge their reading of the work policies and regulations upon their hiring.

It has also been our policy and practice not to simply discard parts, much less complete knives. Whatever waste parts that occur are de-milled and rendered un-useable. Scrap metal is sold to a recycling service.

In recent months, Microtech has devoted considerable effort to customer service issues. We can confidently and emphatically state that knives returned to us for servicing will be quickly addressed and serviced with the correct parts by our experienced staff and promptly returned.

^ Very embarrassing! Tim Flynn, evidently spent way too much of his time, dumpster diving, & being deceitful, rather than being a productive, loyal employee...

perhaps this may help explain "why" MT's customer service has been lagging so severely? ;) :thumbdn:

Edit: FWIW- I actually just pulled out 3 of my MT's, just to be certain that they are indeed authentic, & not Tim Flynn customs. ;)

Just one more reason not to get involved in a Microtech knife. Far too much risk and far too many other reliable companies.

Yep wow. Wonder if old timmy was the warranty repair guy?;)

Im always amazed at some of the rotten and wrong tasks some folks do and yet are still able to sleep at night and look at themselves in the mirror.

I hope that Flynn made at least $5 million on these knives (sarcasm) because his future prospects for any kind of meaningful employment aren't looking too good.
Actually, you can say his future just took a big "dumpster dive"

Stupid people do stupid things, it's nice to see that this idiot will pay a heavy price for beind nothing more than a thief...
