13C26 Changeover Born On Dates

So, when and where will be able to purchase a new leek?

Welcome to the forums and specifically Kershaw.

As far as the leeks go, I imagine that there will be quite a few of the old ones out there for a while yet. I don't know if on line dealers would be able to sort out the new ones from the old ones so you may have to wait for a while if you want to buy online.

But in a brick/mortar store, you could just open the knife and look at the date on the blade. Again, I'm betting it'll take a while to clear out the old stock. As fast as wamart goes thru them, they could be a good bet.

Just courious - what is the distribution channels for Kershaw? I'm not talking about Walmart here - I'm assuming it is Kershaw direct to Walmart

Kershaw to Wholesaler - Jobber - retailer?

When I order my knife I will call the on line retailer an confirm they have the new steel before ordering it.

We do sell direct to Box stores, and smaller dealers as well. There also is a Jobber/Wholesale program as well (Blue Ridge, Moteng, etc...). Hope that answers your question.

Glad I stumbled upon this thread... I was confused because all the online retailers showed 440A for the steel, yet on the Kershaw website it says 13C26. I would highly suggest putting this changover information on your website.

I actually just tonight picked up a 1670TBLKST from WalMart and it has a BOD of April 07. Is it worth it to take it back and try to find one from July 07? I gather the 13C26 has a higher hardness.

Also, what is the difference between the Kershaw models from WalMart and those from other retailers? I notice my box has "WM" (I assume for WalMart) at the end of the model number.

This is my first assisted opening knife and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the opening action. First Kershaw knife also, but I'm sure there will be some more in my future now!

Thanks...

I would take it back, just in case they had some newer stock.

My guess is that the sellers might not like this idea. It might slow doing selling as people wait for the new steel to be available.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was just wondering about the Centofante 1610BB I just ordered. Was this ever offered with 13C26?
Just confirmed my order on the Bay where the description states 13C26. Can't find much information on the all-black centofante.
Sometimes I really hate being a steel knut...

the last time i checked the centofante was already in 13c26. i would think that you would be good to go, but then again i dont trust the Bay. good luck, its a cool lil knife either way

Hey offset, thanks for the reply.

I just didn't see any 'BB' after the '1610' at the start of this thread. I'm also not sure of the last time the all black version was produced. I guess I should just be patient and check its birthday. Unless anyone wants to vomit some knowledge out onto their keyboards and post it for me???

Can't wait to get it, and yeah, it's gonna be funky either way..
