Does anyone have a good heat treat schedule for Sandvik 13C26 blades and springs as it pertains to slipoints? Thanks.

Sandvik's website recommends 1995F/345F temper. It gives 59 rc without cryo-quench, 62 rc with.

Here's some info John

Thanks very much....now I just rneed to find out spring temper temps for R 47 or so. Thanks again

I think 12c27 makes a better spring. The conventional wisdom says to draw it back to RC 45-47 (somewhere around 1200F) for springs. I've been doing a little testing with 12c27 springs drawn 3 times at 700F. They come out at RC 53 which I know sounds too hard but, 12c27 seems to have greater toughness and ducitility when drawn at 700 than it does at 1200.

I've only made a few folders with these harder springs but so far, none of the springs have failed.

Anyone else been down this road?

Jim
