Full review to follow later....gotta eat dinner first...:o

Oh...guess I should say this is one of the "special wood" kerambits - with desert ironwood on the handle.

I sent some of the fancier handle materials I have on stock with Pala - to have them send back a few "surprise" kerambits. :D

Those of you that got the other fancy ones....post pics please!

Dan

They look elegant and beautiful. I knew this day would come, when I did not have one. That's life. I can see now why they were worth getting excited over.

Congratulations to everyone!

Dan i think the kerambit design is a huge success. I love my little bilton, but the 'bit is just SCREAMING to be my next everyday carry khuk. When we find out if a second run is a "for sure" thing, let us know. i'll pre-pay on the spot for a kumar made little treasure like that:)

I was wondering how the loopy finger thing would turn out. Looks nicely done for a guy squatting on a floor with a hammer. :)

I'm with Gunz...just let me know. Special wood a bonus.

another run with special wood is certainly a possibility. But we run a huge risk that they'll get the materials in the first place....but still might be worth it. Heck, I'd like to send them a whole boxful of fancy handle materials, but I can't absorb the cost myself....:o :footinmou

I weighed my new 14" BDC (horn) and it came up 19.3 oz. I was wondering, what is the typical weight for this model?

That's too bad, we were all hoping you'd take it in the shorts for stuff like that, you know, as part of the moderator thing? Next time we get a moderator, we should put some stipulations in the contract.

I doubt anyone wants to wait that long, but I'd be happy to kick in some of the pieces I plan to stabilize. I don't have much big enough for a khuk handle, but nearly everything I have would work for scales on a 'bit.

BTW Dan- The apple wood that Joe sent me looks very promising for the "villager makeover" project. I'm probably going to want three weeks with them once I get my larger set-up set up. Hopefully, I can get them to you before summer is over. :D Thanks again for the wood everybody! It'll keep me busy (and maybe even out of trouble) for awhile.

Very cool. No khuks for me for a while, or else I would be all over one of those kerambits. I REALLY want a new car next spring and the only way to do that is to stop spending so much darn money, hence the no khuks part. :grumpy: Ah well, I can still enjoy the pretty pictures.

Yeah...I propose the next new immoderater be Bill Gates...

NOOOOOO!!! If he were moderator we'd NEVER get any free stuff! :barf: Keep Dan, keep Dan, please!

RR most definitely has it right!!!! And besides not getting any free stuff we probably wouldn't be able to get the forum up, let alone anything else as it would be micro Softed. :p :D ;)

those look soo nice.
I have a horn kerambit and a horn 10 inch bdc coming.
when they get here, i am going to give them a good ergonomics test.
if the 10 inch is not quite big enough for my hands, then i will let anyone buy it if they want to so i can get a 14 incher.

Before anyone else says it...let me know if you want to dump that *nasty* kerambit!

Got my kerambit today. No sign of the BDC that I thought was mailed first  LOL

I was hoping to get one of the special wood ones, but it is normal wood, although very straight-grained and attractive. Kerambit itself is very well made, love the fullers. The back edge on mine is not so false really, it is semi-sharp already. Whole thing is very nicely fitted and the ring is a wonder.

Despite thinking I didn't know kerambits, I do remember now, I have one of those plastic impact kerambits that some famous guy is selling. This knife is the same way to me: feels kinda cool in the hand, but never seems to fit right. The ring especially seems to bug me, it pulls whichever finger is in it away from the rest of the fist. Since the ring is bigger than a finger, it levers itself around and seems it would be loose when hitting something with it. A smaller ring would be tought to get in and out of, and any twisting of the knife would put the finger bone in danger of being broken.

Anyways, enough ignorant kerambit theory. If you like kerambits, I'm sure you will love the HI Khukrambit. I was thinking of trading it or gifting a good friend, but I'll likely keep it to continue work on my HI index collection, and in truth it is growing on me. Thanks to all who put in the effort to get it designed and built!!

Pen,
I like the middle one the most. Looks like the grind on the tip changes and is left thicker.....or is that just the lighting? What does BDC stand for and what "makes" a knife a karambit?

It's the finger ring... At least that's what I've gathered from research...
