14 th day Christmas deals for 12/14 --Pix, Foxy Folly, Chitlangi and huge savings

That chitlangi is tempting me. The slim profile looks like a large size Yangdu Special.

Not it! Though if it were still here I mighta EMd as well. Been loving that Neem wood. Anyone else get something in Neem and find that the wood almost feels waxy?? It's shiny too, but still thirsty as all heck. Perplexing

I think it most likely the polishing compound residue. It seems to be more noticeable on some woods more than others.

Get that off and the waxy feel should go away.

Kinda what I was thinking Bawanna. The only thing throwing me is that in all the wood handled khuks I've got, these 2 with Neem wood were the first to feel that way. I'll leave the Reti alone and keep oiling, and the Baby FF will go without oil til I can sand the handle a little. I don't have any aversion to the waxy feel, I was more curious if anyone else had experienced the same with this wood. Perhaps it has more to do with how this wood reacts to the polishing?

Wasn't me either...

I thought I had it too. Its cool! I can stay out of the doghouse for a bit maybe. Stealth shark with a Bharaiv mask? Well never know who it is even if he does show his face:D

Yeah SG I have an AK with neem handle. It was very blond and light till I BLO'd it up. I polished it to about 2000 grit beforehand and boy did it darken and the colors came out fabulous. I love the stuff. It kinda does look waxy after much use.

I post the courtesy "EMS Sent" when making an attempted purchase. Well, almost always anyway. Once I wrote the post and didn't properly press the send option. I didn't realize it until hours later and felt like a schmuck. I tried to send emails to the others that placed an EMS after I did but, they were not available in that manner. Of course, I was too embarrassed at the time to post it for all to see.

I am getting the BB
Ah! Thanks Jeff! Congrats on the package deal! Love that mask too. Welcome to the family btw. We usually post when we email for something to to avoid the confusion as seen prior to this post. Not mandatory by any means just a courtesy thing to minimize emails to Mrs. Yangdu. I see your new so youll figure us out eventually.
Is this your first blade? Sure wold like to see some pics of that BFF when you get it.

Thank you for the nice welcome.

I posted on the 14th @1808 hrs here for the bowie after emailing Yangdu.

I scored a M43 on Dec 2 I am very impressed with the knife.

If I am doing something wrong please let me know, I would hate to upset some very nice folks that are on here.

Thank again
J

Your not doing anything wrong Jeff. Not a thing.

You scored well.

Welcome to the place, glad you found us.

I think it is the wood. Neem wood gets that way when it is highly polished, like 2000 grit and up. Most handles are not polished that much because it's a lot of work and might take away from the grippiness, but it's worth it for Neem wood. The wood also can change color, from grayish to a lighter multicolor. That's probably from the way it reflects the spectrum of light when highly polished.

I sanded the "waxy" off of my reti with neem handle last night, then gave it some linseed oil. I think it looks lighter, and feels better in my hand.

I'm sure nobody is upset. It's part of the learning curve. Heck, I had to ask what EMS even meant when I came on board. It's not even necessary as Ndog stated if you choose not to. It just saves Auntie from needing to reply to extra emails. She's basically a one person army and time is limited for her trying to do it alone. Again, you did nothing wrong and in retrospect I can see how my post may have sounded abrasive. If so, I apologize, it was not meant to be. Anyway, welcome aboard and congradulations on some great scores! Tighten your seat belt, HI is better than a roller coaster!

No problems :) No offense taken. It took be a couple weeks to figure out what EMS stood for. I am a Firefighter/EMT so that has a whole different meaning ...lol

Definitely no offense! I dont recall it in the stickies so one of us forumites usually tries to convey the message. Im not very articulate or my human skills might be lacking but I try not to sound abrasive or insulting or anything like that. Enjoy your stay and hang out even if you arent buying knives. We love good company...oh and pictures of steel and dismembered wooden objects always welcome:thumbup:
