I almost ordered a 14" Tramontina Bolo yesterday morning; but, I didn't, which turned out to be a good thing.
I went down to the local archery shop and shot about 20 or so arrows at their indoor range. I'm wanting to get into traditional archery, so I thought that place would be a good starting point. It was, because the owner said I was shooting unnaturally well for someone who has never picked up a bow before, and I also saw that he carried a variety of Tramontina machetes. I bought 2 bolos for $10 out the door.
I'm planning to at least rehandle both of them, one in some sort of wood, and the other in micarta. I'm also thinking about creating a patina on one via the boiling vinegar method, which should work because they're carbon steel, I think.
