So here are a couple of images of the upcoming Random Leek (1660TSW). This knife will mark the debut of our 14C28N Sandvik steel. This Leek will be limited to right at 1000 pieces. MSRP $79.95, so the street should be quite reasonable. These are shipping in a few days, and you should be able to find them at all your favorite cutlery outlets.

That reverse tanto thing really intrigues me. Thanks for the pics. And THANKS FOR MAKING IT STONEWASHED... :) What I love about Kershaw and Thomas W. as moderator here, is that they know full well that the "street price" of a knife can be substantially lower than the retail, and they don't freak out about it like some manufacturers... <cough>youknowwhoyouare<cough>

Edited to add,
Hey Thomas, that reminds me. Can you guys do simple customization? I mean, that exact knife, size, and grind, but starting out with .20 inch stock instead of the substantially thinner blade steel you guys use... Seriously, I'm telling you the Random Leek XL or whatever you'd call it, would be a hit... ok, well, at least with me.

That looks nice! Might have to get one since people seem to be scared of the black version I have!

Ahhhhh, there are those pictures I've been looking for:D Looks really good Thomas:thumbup:

That's awesome. I might have to pick one up, I've been looking to get a Leek for a long while now (that's right, I have no Leek, but money's been a bit tight).

Glad I'm on the email-waiting list at NGK.

BTW, have I missed the info on 14c28? I know it's supposed to be better than 13c26, and that it's special made for Kershaw......

But how 'bout the 'sell me on the steel' lecture, Thomas?

Not sure I have time for lectures, but there have been some nice threads on 14C28N. You can find one here:

This thread was an initial 14C28N thread, limited info, but quite funny.

Hope that helps, if you have additional questions please let me know.

When you have 2-step distribution, street value is mostly out of the manufacturer's control. You can work with your wholesalers, but ultimately they don't always play by the rules. I'm not saying I like it, but try not to get overly excited as well. Sometimes I really have to shake my head when I see someone selling items at a tad over dealer price, but I figure they'll disappear quickly.

Now on the Shun and ZT line we do not have distribution, and do have a MAP structure, and I have seen some "freak out".

Well most of the core products have all the parts that are fine blanked, so it would literally be a knife or knives that we would have to start from scratch with. It could be done, just wouldn't be simple.

WOW! I will need to get one for my brother. He was just telling me how the JYDII I got him was a little big for him to carry around the office. (he did use it to get the rattles off of a five foot rattler.)

Nice! I really like the look of the Random Leek, and I love Stonewash finishes. Looks like (too me :D ) the best Leek configuration so far!
