Well this was one heck of a challenge for me. I started about 15 knives 3 weeks ago and finished them this morning at 2am, right in time to sleep and start school again.

I learned more than I could ever dream of. If you haven't seen it, I have the WIP where I worked through some of the general processes:

I realy like your knives. 7th from the top what handle material is that? (1st pic)
If there ever was a need for a kitchen knife on a stealth jet, it be shaped like one of yours!

 :applouse: :love-struck: :tyrannosaurus: :triumphant: :triumphant:

Now that's what I'm talking about! :D Killer work Don.

Always very impressed by your work Don! You were a knife making machine the past few weeks! Great job........"Dan". :)

Awesome work Don! Great looking knives as usual!

Were you working on these full-time during the 3 weeks?

Yep! I was at about 75 hours a week.

It was pretty mental for me. Every little task that shouldn't have taken that long seemed to take forever, because it did! A 10 minute sanding thing turned into 150 minutes :P Sharpening and shipping these is going to take a whole dang day haha.

Well you put the work in and reaped the results mate, that's great!

I was worried you might have managed to do them in 3 weeks while working part-time, in which case I would have decided I must be the slowest knifemaker in the world :)

I wish :P That'd be the goal haha.

Very nicely done, quite an accomplishment. I did 14 in two weeks right before we paid the down payment on our new house. It took me a couple weeks to recover. Not trying to make it a contest, I was just working on a very tight schedule much as yourself. If I recall correctly I did 121 hours in the shop in one week.

The week before that wasn't nearly as bad though. Going on your saying 75hrs/wk, I think we were pushing them out at about the same rate... So either we are both on par, or we are both equally slow. :p

Its amazing how much output you can achieve with a fire lit under your butt, and a bit of experience.

My normal output has been about 4-7 blades per week, but there is some bleed, and some of those are smaller pieces like dashis.

Thanks guys!

Ian, 14 in two is pretty crazy. I definitely picked up the pace hardcore at the end, and there were some things I did that could've left out to increase production rates. If I tried this again I could do it even faster more comfortably.

I think my ideal would be 4 knives at a time.
