Well I finally got a 15"er sirupati to complete my sirupati collection. I have the 20" and the 12" and have a full tang 20"er on order.
--- This one is a beefy khukuri for a sirupati---(3/8+) thick. Good little chopper and fighter, handles great. What's nice is the scabbards on these are narrow.------- I have a Ganga Ram and an AK Bowie in the works also. Don't care how long it takes to get them because they are worth the wait. Besides, it gives me time to get up the cash. --- When will it end???

Hey Jay,

Glad to hear a good review of the 15" Sirupati, cause I have one in the air to my house (along with a BAS) right now. Which do you like better, the 15" or 20", or is it too soon to tell? Anyway, have fun with the new blade!

Hey guys, the 15" Sirupati is great! Excellent fighter!

I got one for my new born son, and he will learn how to use it when he is older. Eventually he will get all of my toys when its my time to go.

Jay H - You should try out the 25" Sirupati, this is one mean blade!

MauiRob - Keep us informed when you test out your new toys!

I'm 5'4" and the 12" Sirupati scares me the way it handles when I pick it up. If you are 5'10" tall or taller, the 15" could end up fascinating you like staring at a rattlesnake behind the glass in a terrarium. That's what the 12" does for me.

(Darn it, this is why I gave up on guns. I'd get all heated up over the next gun to buy, and then stop and realize "...wait a minute. I already have one of those!" Bummer!)

Rob ---The 20"er is real nice but the 15" is a little easier to carry. I like them both the same for one reason or another. The BAS is also real nice and quite similar, just a bit of a wider blade. --------BA --- Maybe in the future the 25"er will come my way, but I already have enough on order to pay for. How much does the 25"er weigh (specs)?

The Sirupati is the khukuri of choice of the Rai and Limbu people in Nepal. These folks have produced some of the finest Gorkas over the years so they must know something.

As a weapon the Sirupati is hard to beat and it performs okay doing chores in the field, too.

Khukuri FAQ

Uncle Bill: --- I remember the story you once told about, I forget who, but when he got harrased, he took off a piece of the guys ear with a sirupati. I think it was a 15"er.

I think me and my sirupati will hang out together for a while, i'll just keep it in my car in the door pocket, so that way I won't forget to take it to karate class to practice my forms with it. --- If you know what I mean!

You are right about the story, Jay. The man who took off half an ear was Dende Sherpa, Yangdu's cousin. He never had a day of khukuri training but he made the 15 inch sirupati do what he wanted it to do anyway. Practice, practice, practice.

Jay,
My 25" Sirupati is close to 2 lbs.. After working out with this Khukuri, all my other Sirupatis feel like a rattan escrima stick. Imagine what the Kumar Kobra could do in skilled hands!

Hi Rusty,

Well, the story started in Maine--born and raised there, moved to Nebraska, met my wife and moved to Maui(next day believe it or not). Been here 3 yrs, and its time to get back home where family and friends are. Lotsa work ahead, but shuold be exciting!

Thanks Uncle, that's one more slip of paper not to have to keeptrack of thru the move
