Katmandu, Nepal (AP) - A 15 year-old Nepali left for the Mt. Everest region Saturday, hoping to become the youngest person to scale the mountain. Arvin Timilsina, a ninth-grader from the western town of Pokhara, flew to Lukla, a dirt airstrip one week's trek from the Everest base camp, with three Sherpa guides and a cargo of climbing gear and supplies.

Sounds like a Gurkha warrior in the making. Pokhara must be a special place, Bill.

The Pokhara area is a special place and if given decent weather I'm betting this kid makes it.

A Sherpa fellow recently climbed Everest in 20 hours! New record. It would take me 20 hours just to clear base camp.

Uncle Bill
