$150 knife recommendations?

I owned the ZT 0350. It was just too much for me.too overbuilt in my opinion and I'm not really a fan of the recurve. Apart from that, I am. It a huge fan of assisted knives and didn't like how it opened deassisted, it reminded me of the cold steel recon 1.

I'm a big fan of spyderco and have the pn2 and the manic 2. And I really couldn't choose between them. The manic 2 is much more comfortable in my opinion, but I prefer the blade shape on the pn2 better. So I guess it comes down to whether you plan on using a knife for extended periods, or if you want a more versatile blade. The modified drop point of the paramilitary 2 is phenomenal for all sorts of tasks from slicing to piercing to chopping. But the manic 2 with the league shape blade is mainly a superb slicer. Sure it can do other tasks. But I'd say the manic 2 is better ergonomically and the paramilitary 2 is better in terms of versatility.

The compression lock on the pm2 is really good but can pinch your hand when you open it sometimes. The ball bearing lock on the manic 2 is great and I have no complaints

Thanks. So far I haven't had a chance to cut anything, but...

Man is that action smooth! Think I'll get over not having an assisted opener pretty quickly.

Blade is almost the perfect size for what I was looking for. More stout than the Grip, but not monstrous like the ZT 350. I can see this thing pulling some hard duty without complaint.

Was a real toss up between the BM Grip and the Manix - the BM was actually a bit more comfortable in the hand, but something about the Spydie just called to me - so that's what I went with.

Only real complaint is the lock is really stiff. I'm sure it will ease up as it wears in a little, but right now it's a bit tough to release with just your thumb.

But really, I see this spending a tom of time riding in my pocket!

Manix is the perfect balance between strength and cutting performance in my opinion. It actually cuts stuff very well unlike some sharpened prybars others make. The lock will loosen up a little but mostly your fingers will get stronger to manipulate it better. Before long it wont be a problem at all. Enjoy your M2. Great blade!
