Knowing what you know now, if you had $1500 to spend on folders would you buy 1 custom, 3 semi custom, 10 high quality, 500 chinese junkers or a mixture?

I would just sit on that $1500, and wait until I saw a knife that I was dying to buy, whether it was a spendy or average knife. Then I'd do the same with the remaining $1000 or $1470, but I'd be in no hurry about it. Laying in wait, patrolling the reviews and fantasizing about what you are going to buy is half the fun.

Agreed with Powernoodle there:)
But seeing as I' m more into the higher-end production knives it would probably be something in the 200-500$ range.

Likely a mix. Could be up to 5 customs though, and I wouldn't spend 500 on a mid-tech for that specific fact.

I hate it, but $1500 isn't enough to get the folder I really want. But I would spend it anyway. Probably buy a Demko ad-10 and a new glock 20.

Try this; Get yourself one Custom and get your favorite EDC user.
This formula has kept me grounded for quite sometime.

I'd get a few $2-300 of different makes and see what worked best for me being that i normally would not be able to do so.

I already have all the knives I want at the moment, but if $1500 magically appeared and I really wanted to blow it all on a knife, I would get a Duane Dwyer Custom Strider.

This is good advice. Knowing what I know now, I realise that I am a very fickle knife guy and my taste is subject to change on a whim. The knives I'd buy today might be very different than what I'd have chosen a year ago. Lately, I've been thinking that my traditional selection is looking mighty sparse...

I would buy a small busse (4" blade) then pay one of my favorite custom makers to make it into a titanium framelock flipper

Id get a Sebenza, then I'd get a bunch of Kershaws, Benchmades, and Spydercos (or a mixture of the 3)
Keep the sebenza for better stuff, and beat on the productions a bit.

I don't really like frame lock knives which has saved me a lot of money on mid tech and custom knives. I would buy some Sprint run/ limited edition/ gold class knives with locks I like and high end steel.

Although I think that Powernoodle has a great idea, I think that I would have to spend it on one knife, an Emerson custom, which one I am not sure. I always end up with extra money that I swear I am saving up for a custom and boom... ZT 0560, Boom .... Spyderco Techno, Blam great price on an Emerson Mini CQC7 on the forums and I never get the custom.

A couple of Sebenza's(large and small), 2 or 3 Spydercos, and a custom slip joint(or 2 or 3 factory slip joints).
