Dale, I can send you some patterns and written instructions for the 152 sheath. It isn't that hard to make a good sheath. (if it was I couldn't be doing it). If you are interested, email me at pfl@cebridge.net and give me your mailing address (USPS). Also include what pattern knives you are going to try, and what style you'd like to tackle. I think I made a little inlay job for Codger and it was posted so you might take a look at that.

Paul

One of the things I appreciate most about this forum is the willingness of members to share information with other members. Good to his word, I received to patterns from Paul today in the mail, along with detailed instructions on how to make two sheaths, one for my 152OT and one for my 15OT. It is evident that he spent a good deal of time and effort to layout the patterns on graph paper and write the instructions out for me.

Paul, I appreciate your efforts very much, thank you. I have to go Portland to get the leather and will be up there sometime next week. There is no Tandy store locally. I will post pictures when I have finished but I'm sure it will take a while for me to complete it.

Thank you,
Dale

El Rey del Cuero has brought much to this forum since his first visit. I, for one, feel fortunate to have made his acquaintance.

:o I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy. I will say I've taken much more out of this forum than I have put in. It was a good day when Bill invited me over from All About Pocket Knives or Pocket Knives R Us or some such forum to ask about my 51OT, Since that day I've become a Schrade accumulator striving to be a collector and I have learned so much and made so many GOOD friends. Thank you one and all and before I leave let me put one more grovel in the bank for Bill, now that I know he's insanely wealthy. (grovel, grovel)

Paul

Paul, Paul, Paul...

It is unbecoming of "The King" of leather (thank you, thank you, thank you very, very much...and to all, 'Viva Lost Wages') to grovel in the desert sand. Please reread my post and notice the key detail... (mostly insane). None the less...you are a pretty funny guy for a Texan. :D

Adios,

You fellows remind me of a Puerto Rican Sgt I worked with, females officers would often complain ( submit a grievence) when a Male, expecially a supervisor would use profanity. It was a way to use affirmative action against a supervisor or minority. Which I suppose wasent unfair since the females were also minoritys. However to get around that he had something he would always say when he wanted to make a point. Due to the vocabulary use rules of the forum I also will use his tactic. ie YOU GUYS ARE TO MUCKING FUTCH. LT

Well known Mexican author Armando Jimenez, used to say that profanity is a necessity for communication, when you have to use "affirmative action" using profanity definitely makes things clear, while using "softer" words would not be emphatic enough. And if profanity is not allowed, people will make up new words or ways to express it.

This is his best known book, of which I happen to have two autographed copies.

Luis

P.S. By the way "es un cuero" in Mexico is often used to refer to someone particularly attractive, somewhat like "she's a peach" in the USA.

---------------------------------------------
- En este pueblo somos tan decentes que al cabrito le llamamos antilope.

- ¿Y eso por que?

- Son ordenes del antilopon del presidente Municipal

---------------------------------------------
Dang, I don't know how to translate this one... maybe if I use a "donkey", lets see, something like:

- In this town we are so decent that we always call this animal donkey.

- Why is that ?.

- Orders from the donkeyopening of the Mayor.

I am lost. However I did not mean to insult ( if I did ), I simply expressed what and why the related things happened I am just not sure if i offended if so sorry.

As far as affirmative action I consider it one of the greatest offenses of the 20 th century. I scored 100 on a numerous promotional tests and had to wait for supposed oppressed minoritys who were given points on the test to be appointed before me ( some who failed). 7 Years. Now just to clarify these were Promotional exams where the poor Underprivledged individuals had as many years as I did on the job to learn it and take the test.

This policy of appeasment was adopted in the 60tys and 70ty when riots would erupt for almost any reason but mostly in the name of social problems but often to be able to score a new TV. I feel it was instituted by segemts of society who enjoyed the financial statis quo.

Now just so that I can alienate everyone with the truth. Riots from Newark to Watts were intolerable, so changes to these supposed and in many cases valid violations of equality and human rights were answered by awarding promotions and supposed points of equalization of inequitys. It was bullshit being used mainly, by the most inept of agencys for self advancment.

I offer this example ( which by the way I stated in private office to the govener of NY in person when he complained about effiency of the dept). You have 3 types of spark plugs A,B,C . A is the best, B ain't bad C stinks. You go into a store to buy spark plugs and ask for A they say Sorry the A ones have exceeded there quota, Then you ask for B sorry exceeded quota. So you ask for the inferior C and you buy it. Now should you be surprised when the inferior product wears out your motor sooner and other parts have to compensate for inferior performance ( since every other part has to work harder ) . No you accepted it.

This was the fact of affirmative action. I often stated that when the White male became the minority. Minority action would in effect end. Because no sane majority would support it. Guess what. Look you can kill me, cheat me, and bullshit me . but please even though helpless, don't think no one notices.

Any policy which either prejudices toward anyone in a policy either positive or negative is in my understanding a violation of the constitution which states without regard to race color or creed. These people to appease popular opinion were given these positions expressly for those very reasons.

Now lest any one say I am spouting sour grapes I have enough Northern Mountain Cherokee heritage to have been eligible for an instant appointment. When I was told that ( and offered an instant position higher than the one I retired at 15 years later ) I said give me a fair fight ( a test if I whip Ya then appoint me ) if not then you go first. I am not a Cherokee, Jew, English, Cajon. or Irish. They are only what made me. I am by God an AMERICAN.

Still there is something for taking that route since all the dirtbags who did went right up the ladder while those who would subscribe to kissing there boots went with them. By the way in a historical note about 2 years ago I was in a casino in Vegas with a minority sitting next to me at a poker table a man much my junior. After listening to his complaints about america I mentioned these facts. Like my waiting 7 years to be promoted. He called me a liar. I will never for get it I also showed him a bullet hole in my leg ( a through and through ) from a place I never was, in a war that never was.

Affirmative action I don't know, what I have said is true. Is it the whole story no, Perhapes it was necessary. I know the blood from Americans being shed tonight is red and has no other color. Only history will show its worth but what I have said is true. LT

Sorry guys my mistake, I shouldn't have mentioned affirmative action which is irrelevant to the point of using profanity (I was thinking of using curse words to refer to affirmative action), I should have said something like: if you want to express something emphatically you can use curse words to make it clear.

IMHO "Affirmative Action", is discriminatory and stupid (or, to be a little more emphatic: a dumbass idea).

Luis

Edited: Just in case anyone is interested, there was a thread about affirmative action in the political Forum about a year ago, I posted in that one (#17).

Well, I finished 2 more 152OTFGs and just got the last coat of finish on the last one today.

The one on the left is the one I posted before with a handle of Cocobolo.

The middle one was from a raw blank & I put the edge on with a belt sander as my wet grinder is having engineering problems. It has a Mexican King wood handle. It is a dark purple/maroon color which didn't come through too well in the scan.

The one on the right has Bokote handles to match a 15OT blank I did.

Paul (Sheathmaker) was very generous with his time and knowledge and sent me patterns for 15OT & 152OT sheaths. I finally managed to find some leather and now need to get to work on them. Health issues and an auto accident have slowed me down considerably.

Below are three knives I made from blanks, bought from Jantz Supply.

The left one has Malagasie rose wood on the bolsters and King wood on the handle.
The middle one has brass bolsters (my first attempt) with Cocobolo handles.
The one on the right also has Malagasie Rose wood (rose wood from Madagascar). It is an example of salvaging a screw-up. The wood was too pretty (and expensive, $18) to waste.
