This is my first stainless knife in 154CM. The stock was oversize, so it's a bit thicker than ideal. The handle is marooon linen micarta with 9/64" (don't ask) stainless pins. I've got some 3/32" A2 and will have to get some 3/32" 154CM for more of these.

Blade is 3.4" long, sanded to 1000grit.
Handle is sanded to 600grit.

There's an oddity in the handle around the rear pin on one side, not sure what's going on there. Perhaps a heat effect - the micarta is very burly and could have used a coarser sheet on the disk sander.

The handle is left a little large and blocky for my mom's arthritic hands. This knife will cut a lot of Gin and Tonic limes!

Beautiful lines very very fluid. I'm picturing the same knife in black ebony, by no means do I not like the micarta, leans toward the functional. This one is a favorite.

Beautiful. That's a little bit thicker than paring knives usually are — does it work well?

Thanks, guys.

Yes, it's thicker than ideal. I have a couple 1/8" ones that work pretty well. Given where this will go, I'm ok with it. My mom has at least one or two paring knives with broken tips... I'd like to sell a couple in the future, and those will be the 'right' thickness.

Very classy, looks like a slim hunter to me. I like the maroon linen a lot.
Darcy:)

The knife has sliced it's first lime (to ooh's and aaah's). The old oxo serrated beater is history!

DEllis, technically it's a slim 'Hiker' ;). It's identical to my Hiker model, but scaled down 75% from spine to edge.
The original Hiker pattern was supposed to be a paring knife, but it was too tall found its own niche.

That looks really nice Daize! Love the handle, it turned out great!
I'm getting close to finishing one up for my wife in D2, working on a handle right now. I enjoyed makin' it and want to do more.

Thanks, Jonny!
I'll be interested to hear how that D2 fares long term in your wife's care.
I knew from the get-go that my mom needed full-on stainless as she'd leave it covered in lime juice for weeks at a time...
and stir with it (finally convinced her that a spoon was the right tool, so keep that there too...).

These paring knives are one of my most satisfying patterns. They'll get a ton of use, which is enormously satisfying. I expect we'll be seeing a jonnymac standard paring pattern in wild handle combos pretty soon. :-)
