I have picked up a Walden 165UH. I have seen the 165UH with a couple of different shields in the handle, and some with no shield at all. The one I just picked up is oval, German silver, and blank. Has anyone here ever seen a blank one? Is this the way it was made? If so, why?
I'll post pics tomorrow when I get good light.
Thanks

Bridgeman, here's the basic configuration with the Uncle Henry shield (UH=Uncle Henry). These knives were also made as commemoratives and SFO's, in which case they'd often have a custom shield. Yours MAY be one of those, possibly with an unfinished shield, or your shield may be simply worn or ground smooth. Pictures would definitely help.

Good morning...
Here are those pics. A little light pitting on the blade, but it was still a nice find for me.

Here's a picture of one that I found (not mine). Based on the depth of the stamped name, I do not think mine was ground or sanded off. Also, not sure on this, but most I am seeing seem to have brass pins and shield. Is this so or is it just the coloring of the photos?

I have one identical to yours, serial #14608. No answers, though, except that the shield has NOT been ground down.

Thanks for the input tongueriver. I've learned with Schrade to never say "They didn't make one of those." HA! Nice to know someone else out there has one.
