I decide to build new grinder only for contact wheel . Plan is this ......today I cut of on lathe this motorbike rims/wheel which is 16 inch but with polyurethane or rubber on will be exactly 17 inch Dia. Since the wheel is from motorcycle I can easily balance it because I have machine to do that , it s part of my job . In the place of braking discs I will put pulley with V grove.Yes , contact wheel will be drive wheel . I think it is better that way and is much easier/simple to make that way ...at least to me .I can draw how will look tension arm and tracking wheel but I will do that same way as I do on my new grinder I work on .. .https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/belt-grinder.1495858/page-2
I have three-phase 2HP and 1400 rpm motor which I think is ideal for this .With 1 : 1 ratio I will have 31 m/s belt speed .I can easy get more speed or slow down in future if I need that ..Maybe I will make two step pulley . I have many bike wheel in different size so in future maybe I will make several contact wheel .....
So , what do you guys think about this ?
