18" Ganga Ram Special

How does the BGRS compare to the AK ?

Does the BGRS has more tip heavy balance ? edge shape different ?

Maybe I have never had a good one, but for me there's no comparison. The Ganga is better. All the AK's I've had have a steeper edge and you have to use more force for the same amount of cutting. I bet an AK is better at splitting but I never split wood with a khuk so.....

In case I haven't said it enough times yet, the 15" BGRS is my favorite khuk in my favorite size - a bit of refinement, and it will be perfect. ..

I'd like to see about 1/2 to 3/4" length on the handle of the 15 to make it perfect, and keep the handle kinda slim.

Yes thank you that cleared things up. :)

I've got a 17.5" 23.5oz BGRS, and while it's on the light side, it hits like a ton of bricks. It is a devestating chopper. I've done what I can to beat the hell out of it, and it just shrugs it off like it's nothing. Personally, I'm not a fan of the AK's. As stated before, they've got a little more steeply curved blade. IMHO, the BGRS is a great design.

Oh good. I was originally leaning toward the 18" WWII, but gave her both options. I guess she had an 18" GRS in stock. She says its got wood handles too!!! I wonder what kind? I'll refinish them of course. I'm very excited. I hope this blade is up to HI standards! I never expected to have to send one back, and I felt real low about doing it. I do, however feel like we should all expect 100% satisfaction from what I think of as the worlds premier Khukuri manufacturer. Aparantly Yangdu agrees.

Well my small 12" AK that I got recently has something quite different that may appear to be unacceptable for some people........

When looking down to the spine......there are 2 places that obviously bulges out like bumps......when I look at it closely, these are actually metal being forced out into bumps when the fullers were forged.....to me that is not a fault, it's an evident that these were actually forged fullers and not grinded.

It just added character to the blade. :)

I don't mind bumps bulges or things like that of any kind.

The WW2 is nice too, but I think the curved rather than the angled blade of the Ganga Ram is a bit easier on your wrist and hand.

Those type of hand made blade issues are not flaws in my mind.

I had a 1.5" dint in one side of the blade (nothing on the other) that was aparant from 10' away. There was no indention on the other side, and so this wasn't a fuller. The dint was right at the end of the sword of shiva and could easily be seen from any angle. The spine of the blade narrowed at that point too, but only from one side.

Maybe it's because of the GRS or BGRS's edge curvature too..?? That makes it a better chopper ? hmm....points to ponder.......:)

I felt much the same way about that one. :( I didn't find out about it until it was over. I hadn't been watching the Exchange at all and still only go there infrequently.

I suppose it would be too much to expect an HI Outfitters to go along with the HI Cantina. ;)

Sassas, I had two for sale, a regular production model that Bob snagged, and the largest BGRS Villager I have seen for a while in horn that went to Spectre.

Forum rules prohibit people referencing the sales on the Exchange anymore, something about people who aren't Gold members selling stuff (?), so I emailed a whole ton of guys privately to let them know about the knives I was selling both privately and on the Exchange. (So far have sold about 16 or 17.)

I tried to both PM and email you but you have both options off. Drop me an email if you would like to be notified of any future items. FYI, I always let Yangdu know I am selling stuff, as 99% of it is HI and I don't want her to be blindsided in any way.

I'm not in it for any great profit, just enough to be able to try for the next Deal of the Day. :D

Tnx.
