I took the 18 inch AK to the local knife store in the Mall today to show the guys. Their eyes shot out of their heads when they saw the blade come out of the scabbard. They could not believe the thickness and the polish. They were previously arguing with me that the CS ghurka was the thickes khukuri made. I told that was what I used to think , but it's actually not the case. When they saw it they could not believe it. I then told that there is one even bigger, and they all looked at me like I was an alien. They had that " Me maguilla gorrilla, no understand you" look in their faces. It was funny.

The 20 incher is for yetis and Cliff -- it is not for everybody. But I somehow wish you had one when you showed your wares. The reactions would have been worth the price of the knife.

I think the 20" Ang Khola is very user freindly. I have no trouble handling mine for chopping. I find the 20" Ang Khola the least fatiquing to use on large chopping task. The 18" WWII model may change my opion but the 20" model is still a pleasure to use.

Cobalt, I find a lot of people can't believe that a knife is made with over 0.25" blade thickness.

A yeti may be required to utilize it for combat, at least until Jay develops something.

I'd love to build a 24" or 26" Ang Khola, with a titanium center to keep the weight down, and a 3/4 or 7/8th's inch spine. I know it wouldn't be worth the trouble or expense, but if you never let anyone else touch it, I bet you could really blow a few minds giving it to a shrimp like me to twirl and flick. And yes, I know it sounds childish. It should! I've got a year and a few months left of my 40's, and they've been the best part of my childhood yet!

No play, no fun! no fun, why live?

You got to have some fun to make life worth while.

I still don't own a 20" Ang Khola, but want one very much. I'll have to talk to Bill and find out what he might have.

Forget making the center lighter. I want a 25"+ Tin Chirra with a Tungsten center. That's almost 3 times the density of Iron.

Put a 2x4" infront of that.

If you get even a 20" Tin Chirra in, get an extra one to sell to Ripley's Believe-It-Or- Not in San Francisco.

If we are talking wild, I'll go with a 25 inch sirupati, out of a titanium/stellite laminate.

Of course, this is impossible as stellite cannot be forged(not easily anyway).

Hi Cobalt

Can you post the specs. on the 18" Ang Khola. How does it compare to your 18" WWII model.

Anytime I pick up the 20" Ang Khola (22" in my case) I think of the tenis player who use to use an extremely oversized racket. He was actually quite successful.

Will, the 18 inch A.K. is right inbetween the 15 and 22 in the handle size. It is very easy for me to manipulate and twirl. It appears to weigh a little over 2 pounds(my best guess) and is exactly 18 inches long. The spine thickness, again is right inbetween the 15 and your 22, 9/16 inch roughly. I have not done any work with it, yet. I can't wait to mangle something with it.

Anybody have any picks of the larger (18 and 20) AK perhaps with a person and a 15 in with it for scale?

Thanks,

Clay

Thanks for the info on the 18" Ang Khola Cobalt. It sounds like you should get impressive performance with it. You could probably twirl a 20" Ang Khola as well.

Do you prefer the 15" Ang Khola over the 18" Ang Khola? I prefer using my 20" Ang Khola for most of my chopping since it is the least fatiguing. One of the advantages to my 15" Ang Khola is that it is about the maximum length to fit inside my backpack (to avoid scaring anybody).
