18" or 22.5" Evenheat

My Evenheat 22.5 seems to be working perfectly. The SetPro seems okay as well. But the back end of it is indented. It almost looks like it was squished during shipping, but it is equal enough on both sides that I think it may be part of the design. Do all the Evenheats have these indentations in the rear of the stainless shell?

I'm assuming they do, but can anyone tell me if these things use a lot of electricity.
my 18 inch kiln runs 14 or 15 amps off 220 volt and i figgered it up and thats half of what my old clothes dryer uses
but i cant tell you if thats peak or what
butch

I had a guy buy an old kiln I was thinking of converting into a HT oven. He was talking about some of his Big kilns really sucking the juice. I asked him how much it cost him a month.....he said "oh, about 20 bucks I guess"

Maybe someone who has one can say if it makes there power bill higher by alot.....

I never kept track but really don't notice much difference
but I do try not to H/T just one at a time.
I'll knock one or two other blades out just to cost average it down:)

I think the wife and kids burned up more leaving all the lights on in the house all the time:rolleyes:

Well, a bit of quick figuring gives 3600 watts for about 1.5 hours - about 5.4 KWh. The last few months my total bill has been about 650 KWh. I probably do 2 batches on a slow month and 10 batches on a busy month. Seems like a pretty small chunk of the electric bill. Works out to about the same as leaving a 100W lightbulb on for about a little over two days. The electric company says I pay about 6.25 cents per KWh - about 34 cents for the whole cycle. Of course, that doesn't include trasmission charges - delivery charges - municipal franchise fees - taxes - fee so we can fee you fees.....

so that would be 4 days for your 2 batch min and up to 20 days for up to 10 batchs :) I need to kill the wife and kids..:eek:and do more H/T'ing :D
what would the ~8% of your total bill be on the big month? :D

Thanks guys! Our electric co-op recently installed new digital meters and since then my smallest bill has been $91.:barf:

I apologize Brian for hi-jacking your thread.:o

dang
lucky I'd say:)
I got a bill about two mouths ago that was $135.00 and I thought
they goofed up some how:confused: . normally its at least $150.00 and in
the winter around $200.00
I don't have air either,, but I do heat the shop 24-7 in the winter. .
2400 ft of floor space,, the heating oil is what kills me..
but you have to spend money to make money as a rule..:)

Brian I wanted them to make me one doubled up with a closable section in the center
with duel controls:) they wouldn't:grumpy: :)

Dan,
The one for $91 was what I just got for Oct. Every other one since they put in the digital meters has been around $150.

Before that when we had the old meters with the spinning disc we could run the AC all through the summer and the bill was around $65.

I guess they have to pay for the new meters somehow.:(

I also went with the 22" oven.My way of thinking was, it's better to have the extra lenth and not need it than to need it and not have it.and for the price I could not pass it up.
