18" Sirupati

Namaste,

I just wanted to tell I am as happy as at the first day with my Sirupati.
Those pieces are works of art and love.

Btw, do someone know if a crescent moon always belongs to Bura's work? I've got a crescent moon and something which looks like a sun, with eight rays, but aligned into the four cardinal directions, in pairs. The Devanagari or Newari script I cannot read, although I did some research in the web. Help would be appreciated.

Namaste,

Sushil

Namaste, Sushil!!

Yes, the crescent moon kami mark is the Royal Kami Bura's mark , and his alone. The 8 rayed Sun you speak of, is a mark which signifies your blade as being made by H.I. kami's The Devangari letters are the Kami's initials, in your case they would be L.B. The Devangari script at the bend of the blade near the spine marks the blade as an H.I. blade and on the other side of the blade, depending on when it was made, there will be the initial U.B. in honor of Uncle Bill Martino.

My 20.5 inch sirupate by Bura is my favorite blade, good balance and it holds up to my use.

After reading the above posts I have come to the conclusion that :
Is it not nice to be in such a Quandary.... which of My Sirupatis IS my Favorite!

The Balance, feel, heft, etc... and well, they also Look Pretty Darn Good as well!

All of my HI Blades are Very Much Appreciated, but there just seems to be "Something" about the Sirupatis....

Months ago I scored a 20.25" Sirupati made by Bura. It has become my #2 favorite khukuri because of its speed, agility, and exquisite balance. 20" Ang Khola by Kumar is still my main "worker", 21.5" Chitlangi by Sher is my favorite blade of any I own, but the 20.25" Sirupati is my general lightweight 'everyday' carrying khukuri. It's the one I'm usually wearing when I'm out in the woods with the pups. It's a good tool for cutting a path through briars and other light brush and it feels like it would be a very very deadly self defense weapon. It feels like a khukuri-shaped rapier.

I want another one.

I have a chiruwa sirupati, the 20inch version I think. Its 3/8 thick and a beast. I haven't really used it yet but it feels like a nasty chopper. The way its constructed I can't imagine that you could damage it. Something I would like to have on "Lost".
