I have one of the original, legendary 18" Super Salyans that I have decided to sell. It is a monster of a blade! Uncle Bill thinks they are ugly and stubby but many of the faithful love them. I haven't used it very much so it is in excellant condition. A moment or two with a buffing wheel will bring it back to it's original, as issued perfection. It's a great chopper but it's heavy, so be prepared for a workout! It's a unique blade and Uncle Bill says that they will not produce them any longer.
I cannot post pictures but perhaps a more computer proficient forumite will dredge up an original photo and post a link for it.
I like the blade well enough. At the very least it's a heck of a conversation piece! However my precision rifle needs a new scope and with a little one on the way I need to make some compromises.
If you are interested I am asking $175, firm + shipping charges. You can post here but I will respond on a first come, first serve basis to email requests.

I still think they are ugly but those who have them argue with me about this. But ugly or not they are heavy duty workhorses and top quality.

Medication time!!!! I have one already and when this came up on the forum my mind immediately thought of a left and a right on the belt.

I know what one does. Two of them would be ridiculous. Probably end up getting busted for indecent exposure even with belt and suspenders.

Maybe I could mount them on a plaque.

Bro that would have to be some plaque to hold up 2 Super Salyans.

I keep mine for serious severe splitting of wood, but I may sell it one of these days in the unforeseen future, but then I may not.

Success on the 1st try! There it is. A picture is worth a thousand words.

One of the things that's really neat about the Super Salyan is that you can whack it into a log and then step back several feet and see just how accurate it is too the H.I.Logo Khukuri.
The most noticeable difference is the cho isn't the same but all the other proportions are to exact scale.
Mine isn't like that any more since I took the handle down to a size I could manage.
The Super Salyan is delightfully suited for severe splitting and chopping tasks and if you need to pry an Abrham's(sp) Tank out of your way.

Sure.
It is actually 20" long. just shy of 3" wide and 5/8" thick. It weighs about 3.5 lbs.. The handle feels like a D cell mag light. It is a Shop 1 blade so it has the scrolled buttcap. It also has the fully engraved and inlayed Sword of Shiva. The handle is rosewood. It is basically identical to the picture in the link I posted above. The karda and the chakma are 6.25" long. The sheith is pretty standard. Nothing fancy but very well made.

The blade is an unbelievable chopper. It makes huge chips fly and logs have been known to split by themselves in mere anticipation! It is truely an awe inspiring blade. I hate to see it go but I need optics!

Jaeger, bless you. In the picture as a comparison that is one of the few 12" Sirupatis from the batch they made a little straighter ( less bend at the elbow ) and with smaller handles. There are other batches, but this one was done right. Don't ask me how, but it's nothing less than magic.

That's right, in this forum can you can talk about magic or a blade having a "soul". Just because the really real over here doesn't have magic or blades with souls, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen in Nepal. ( And Bill only sells those properly blessed and having magic in a good way. )

I'd love to get it but I still owe Uncle Bill some $$$. If you still have it when I get caught up, it's sold! Unfortunetly that might be 1 to 3 months. Please post if you sell it, I'll be watching!!

Will do Chris. So far you are the only one interested. It's quite a blade but it's not for the feint of heart!

Jaeger, I'm addicted to heavy blades, Is there any way you can post a picture? I'd like to see the actual shape of the blade. I'm pickey about the shape, if it's right I can try to scrape up the $$$ Let me know

Unfortunately I have no way of posting pictures. Towards the beginning of this thread I have a link to Uncle Bill's original post (archived) regarding this blade. It contains a picture and my Salyan looks identical to that one.
If it helps, the HI logo khukuri at the top of the page is a Salyan style and is pretty close in profile to mine.

:
Chris when you lean the Super Salyan up against something and stand back several feet it has the same look as the logp khukuri. It's only up close that it looks short and squatty.

The Super Salyan is one helluva wood splitter and general all around work horse.
It's pretty amazing still to me just how close the kamis came to duplicating its shape into the larger model!!!

I am glad I wound up with one since they are kinda rare.
I believe the should keep their value well and years down the road a person should still be able to get a good price out of one, at least I am hopeing it is so.

I know the day's coming in the future when I won't be able to use the big ones and then mine will be up for sale or passed on to a favorite kid or grandkid or perhaps just a good friend.
