i just placed a order for 2 1903s and 2 1903a3s (drill rifles) from cmp. i baught some barreled recievers with (bad barrls) several months back. the barrels turned out to be mint, only a few people had bums. one was a 1918 mark1 that had never had a bolt installed, the other was a 42 remington that had the origional barrel. the mark1 gagued at 0 mw and the remington was a 1. for about 300 bucks each ill have some nice rifles.

any one else picking any of these things up?

I've had my Mark I since my Grandpa bought it .It's more reliable since it has two ejection ports !!

I see it as upsetting that the DoD is surplussing these. I have been reading in the paper that the local Army JROTC unit has been competing very successfully in unarmed comeptitions but unable to participate in armed competition because of not having enough dummy rifles. It's not that they aren't allowed to have any, they have several which are carried in parades, but they don't have enough to participate in armed competitions. I should say that I am sickened that the DoD (or DoA/N/AF) is surplussing them when they could reissued to other units.

if i remember correctly congress chartered dcm (now cmp) and part of the deal was that rifles that were no longer needed by a club were turned in. cmps goal is to permote shooting activities especially with kids.

IF who ever is running your jrotc is smart he will contact cmp, if a need arises for those guns they will loan them to the orginization for as long as needed. if they need more they can get more rather easily, all they have to do is ask. you might want to get in contect with the powers to be and let them know that they have been released. they will even loan live rifles for competitions if the jrotc is part of that.

on another note, in march, there will be a "significant number" of m1 carbines for sale. it will be the first time sence i think the 60s that complete carbines have been sold. ill be picking up a few.

today they released a great deal of 1903 and 1903 rifles and recievers. heres the list. im probably going to pick up one or two of these to.

the ejection port on the side is actually for a .30 carbine round (not m1 carbine round) it turned the bolt action 30-06 in to a 40 round .30 carbine semi auto rifle. the rifle and pederson device showed below sold for 51,750 theres another device sans rifle for 49k online. the second ejection port has nothing to do with realiability although mark1s are stronger than other 1903s because of better heat treating.

Kabar, I'm very well aware what the second ejection port is for !!!! I just mention that to confuse the unknowing !!

ive got a mark1 barreled reciever that i bet you would like, it looks like mid assembably they stoped for some reasion, its got the magizine cut off (real mark1 parts) but no bolt has ever been installed and no screws have ever been inside the holes. i baught it for like 115 because it had a "bad barrel"

edit*** nm i done told yall about that

placing another order tommarow for a few more barreled recievers, gotta get all my 1903s togeather before the carbine craze hits.
