Hi, would appreciate any help with identifying this knife, no pic so far so verbal description follows. So far while searching net for info have determined it is from 1940 due to the ARCHED stamp camillus cutlery co camillus ny, it is fixed blade 9in overall 5 in blade, it resembles a mark 1 or mk1 navy fighting knife except it has an alluminum pummel and a clear stacked plastic handle, the handle/grip appears to be original. Thought it might be made for the civilian market. Any ideas or directions to go for info? Pics on post 17 and 21

I agree. The story goes that they used plexiglass from damaged planes to replace the rotted leather washers.

to post a picture either buy a membership. Or use a third party host.

what shape is the guard what metal is it made out of? Does the blade have a fuller?

I’m leaning towards a ww2 Army Aircorps knife.

Need good pics of the knife and any markings. Use IMGUR, its free, easy and works well with the forum software.

Thank you for the info, not a paying member so need info on how to post a pic through 3rd party yes there is a fuller, the guard is brass, it looks like an mk1 but is only 9 1/2 in not 10 1/2 length, arched lettering, the knob at the end of the handle is alluminum not plastic like an mk1

Take a picture and then go to postimage.org. Select your photo, click Hotlink for Forums, then paste it in this thread. Simple.

I don’t know the specifics of using a third party. A Arathol posted the Imagur info above. (Post 4 in this thread.) D DocT posted another way (post 7)

In the mean time search for ww2 US Army Air Corp knife. Pretty sure it’s what you have.

army air corp is 10 1/2 inches this is only 9 1/2, also army air corp has plastic base to handle this has aluminum, any ideas?

The handle is a replacement. The guard and pommel may or may not be original. But the plexiglass washers are not from the factory.

It sounds like a cool piece, I hope you get pics figured out.

I know it's not the most intuitive thing ever but you'll get it.

It's useless to try and figure this out without pictures. It may very well be a factory synthetic handled knife. It may be a Pakistani copy.

have been trying for 2 days to get image posted using your suggestion, just does not seem to work, is there another way other then what you suggest or imgur?

Nice! Definitely a theater knife to my eyes.

Looking at that picture I would have been certain that it was a Marble's theater knife, based on the Ideal. It certainly is a copy of the Marble's design. That wide fuller made the blade lighter and easier to carry.

The Marble's was the basis for the Kabar.
