1940 fixed blade canillus

Looking at that picture I would have been certain that it was a Marble's theater knife, based on the Ideal. It certainly is a copy of the Marble's design. That wide fuller made the blade lighter and easier to carry.

The Marble's was the basis for the Kabar.
Thanks for the input but as you can see (hopefully the pic downloaded) that it is a camillus with the arched design, net say arched was 1940
 
I found some information from a dealer's site specializing in WWII knives.

The dealer has a similar knife , in it's original configuration and listed as a Camillus Pilot's Knife. It should be 9 1/4 inches in length.

The details of the knife can be found on page 85 of a book "The Knives of The United States Military World War II" by Michael W Silvey
Also the same dealer has a similar knife, re handled with tape and listed as "in-theater modified"

Very nice, thank you, indeed that is what it is 9 1/4 inches, possibly theatre re-handled, would be nice if it was.
