OK so you are fed up with current Schrade prices for post 1972 knives let alone Schrade Waldens 1946 - 1972. Of even worse the Schrade cuts from 1903-1946.

Well why not just order right from the factory brand new auto hunters for around 5 dollars . That shape now if you can find them 400 to 600+ most other patterns around 20 to 40 dollars ( a dozen ). How about a nice display original SW-25 display case I just got mine in the mail. but I filled it with pearl Schrade Waldens what the heck for an extra couple of bucks or so, per knife why not. (vlaued now at 3500+ for these knives and display ) By the way the dark spots on the display case are shadows not spots. This was a shot I took for insurance purposes for the display while in Ellenville. I am always being asked where I find mint new old stock knives I just order them from this 1954 catalogue

By the way be aware that if you order from this firm and receive your display and all these knives arrive you will have arrived as well ( in the Twilight zone ). Which is no big trick for me since I live in the past. Yup Polio was still a threat comics were a dime. A double malted ( with real malt and 14 percent butterfat ice cream), a quarter. and the DUKE would still be making pictures for more than the next 20 years. The Quiet Man and From here to eternity were the most talked about movies. Ah Rheingold and Ballantine. 1954 even though I was only allowed a sip back then. Just about when I started collecting Schrades.

Enjoy the pics if they come out. LT

I graduated high school in 1954 and times were good!
Gasoline was 20 cents for low test,center-cut bologna cost 25 cents/lb,Campbells baked beans were 8 cents/can,.22 long rifles were 35 cents.A new Win model 70 cost $90 and a .357 S&W model 27 sold for $80.
A new 1954 Ford 2-door,with the new 239 inch overhead-valve V8,with overdrive,radio,and heater cost $1450 delivered (I still have the bill-of-sale and yes,a heater was an option).
Non-union,experienced journeyman carpenters made $2.50/hour.As an apprentice with 3 summers/weekends experience,I made $1.00/hour.
You could take your best girl to the drive-in for a movie and get burgers, fries, and milk shake afterward for $5.And then go park in a cemetery and play "pallbearer".
No TV and internet to waste your time, few people on "relief",taxes were low, liability lawsuits were unheard of,etc.,etc. People were responsible for themselves and didn't expect the government to provide everything.

LT - you ruined my day! Now,I'll think about how good we had it back then!

LT, it's been a while since your class and exam here on Pearl, but are all those in the display MOP or Marine pearl handled?
Nice. Very nice!
Phil

Those are all real deal original MOP. Actually these were made after 56 but before 60 ( in Ellenville) they were among the last ones made with the natural materials left from the Walden plant. LT PS all original in new old stock ( unused mint ) condition. It is a lousy pic.

I think I just found the plans for my walnut display case. I just have one question, do you remove the glass to get to the knives or does the back come apart?
Thanks Rick
BTW how do you tell MOP from Marine Pearl?

It is in the archives but I just cannot do it tonite. We had a contest once.LT PS almost without fail the back is removable however there are some versions where the entire front folds down. These are early wood editions. some have access both ways however that being the case the glass usually slides out as well as the back sliding or unlocking open.
