This is one of my friends and he asked me to get some info on this knife. He said he bought it around 1964. Here is a couple of pics...

Would the sheath be original in that pic? I was thinking it would have a flap over sheath originally.Maybe not. Sure is nice with that maroon micarta spacer material!

The sheath is probably orignal it does look as though someone has cut off the flap. Buck introduced the flap over sheaths around 1965. The spacers on this particular knife are actually hard fiber. Buck did not start using Micarta until about 1969. Nice Knife!

Right on Buck 61.I noticed the modified sheath as well.I have one of those.Only mine had no sheath and beside the Buck stamp was a dot.Joe H. informed us at the 20yr.reunion that the dots showed up around 1967.That would mean early, just before the 2 line stamp.Mine has the same spacer material as well.DM

I'm thinking well over $150 in ebay. More if you send it to Buck and get it all cleaned up. Beware of low ball offers.

I can buy them mint NIB for a lot less then $150.00...

It's a one-liner...Better steel than the new ones...and red Micarta spacers...

Ka-Ching!!! :D

...this knife has a lot wrong with it...

Nothing that Buck can't put right, and cheaply...For the price of a sharpening, in fact...

$150 sounds about right...

(I can't believe I've turned into a 334dave/Buck cheerleader clone...)

I was talking about 1960's and 70's 120 never been used cheaper then $150.00. I know a couple of guys in San Diego that has a few for sell, and they are not asking that much, they are under $100.
I just bought a 116 caper never been used fold over sheath and in the box from one of them for $45. It was a two liner.
Just bought a one liner 120 with a rough looking sheath no box off one of them for $50. So they are out there.

I was not putting your knife down you ask the value of it and I said some where between $50. and $100. I like the old knife it could be cleaned up nicely, but it's not worth $150. even cleaned and a new sheath. Just my opinion.

Just my opinion.

And I for one respect you for it...In fact, if I didn't already have two Buck 120's, I'd be asking you about that San Diego 120 connection... :)

But a hunk of 440C steel that big...With black Micarta grip (or were those Bakelite???)...and red Micarta spacers...I still think $150... ;)

(and no, mine are not for sale at this time...) :p
