1970s Buck 105 Pathfinder?

What blade steel did they utilize back then? I have to sharpen a buddy's and I just want to know what I'm up against!

Buck standard steel:

Before 1981.- 440C

1981 to 1994.- 425M

After 1994.- 420HC

I've had Bucks in all of these steels and the old 440C is my favorite, a bit harder to sharpen but a bit longer edge holding.
