SOLD...............
I used to collect balisongs, specifically 1980s Japanese imports from Parker, Taylor, Valor, etc. Over 50 have passed through my collection over the years. Then, after selling off my third balisong collection a grail was offered for sale on the forums, the one balisong I prized above all others, even the coveted Parker Imai and Compass Industries Cho No Shi . . . the Valor FIJI.
This balisong has thin BRASS handles, less than half the weight of the knuckle breaking Taylor Manila Folder, drilled in the distinctive Benchmade pattern. It also has a Bowie blade forged from Seki City 440C. This, my friends, is the finest balisong 1980s Japan had to offer. It is comparable in many ways to the balisongs made by Jody Sampson (aside from the custom grind) with these handles and blade style.
It is still not completely broken in so it does not flip perfectly yet, it is still a tad tight but that will go away soon if you use it as intended. Flips better than many other Japanese imports from this era. Recently oiled the pivots, polished the brass, and had the edge professionally touched up. This is not mint, but it is in Excellent overall condition. Latch locks tight in both the open and closed position. This looks to have been only lightly flipped but is presented as a semi-collectable vintage user.
A steal at $75, shipped. I paid 120 for it a couple months ago because I forgot I don't collect balisongs anymore. Might trade for an interesting hawkbill, but that's about it.
