1991 110 Handle Material

Except that the OP’s knife appears to have Nickel Bolsters...
I don't think they're nickel. There's too much of a contrast in color between the rocker and the frame.

Anything is possible though.

It might be bone, but my first reaction was that it is Corian. Buck made scales in Corian around that time. However, on second look, it just looks dirty. It is probably smooth bone.

The bolsters are NS they will turn color, unlike the rocker or lock release. Are those spacers or has the bone shrunk away from the frame? They look like spacers, just checking...

As stated many times already. It is gray bone with black spacers and NK frame. The frame needs to be polished.

Sorry I'm in the Hospital or could post photos.

I think it's bone.

With those black specs all over, it looks to me like some spray paint mist hit it.
This is exactly what my arms...ect look like when a rattle can nozzle doesn't want to cooperate.

1991+ and liners, not a Buck custom.
NS bolsters = Not a standard production 110.
If not a Custom Shop, it may be a SFO/Exclusive for someone like Cabela's, L.L. Bean, Bass Pro, or someone else. But it is not a standard production knife.

Where's the OP, starts a thread and then disappears...Preston

Like so many who have come before him/her... They come, they find the information and disappear forever.

I predict he/she will post one more question... the one we're all waiting for...

jb4570 jb4570 - Ditto what Preston said! Hope it's nothing serious and you're out in a hurry. The fish are biting!

As TinSue wrote, the knife has gray dyed cow bone scales. A few number has been made without, the most have black layer. As I remember I saw a knife with colored layer, I forgot if they were blue or red. And yes, the knife was available with standard or damas steel and has ns frames

Haebbie

JB, I hope it is nothing serious. Best wishes to you.

Larch, sure got his monies worth on one post. Thank you gents. Lots of good information. DM

My father brought me my childhood camping knife recently and thought I should know a bit about it. From the research online I can see it was made in 1991 (+ symbol), but apart from that no definitive online catalog I saw had the model or material it was made of. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry, previous posts are incorrect. The bolsters are clearly stabilized radium and the scales are polished thoat bone. This was obviously a knife carried by the Tharks of Barsoom at some point in the recent past.

Enjoy!
