Yesterday a friend brought me a big box of odds and ends pocketknives and asked me so sort through them and sell them off for him. He told me to take my pick of some of them for my trouble, and I found a 110 in there that at first glance the tangstamp seemed odd and after I did a search here last night, I found it's one of those 1992 mid-year change stamps.

The bolsters needed cleaning, but other than that the knife appears never used.

Ever see a 3 dot 110/112 that also has the chevron mark? I also have the blade of a 110 that has one dot with a 1987 mark. Neither of them came with the story of their origin and so far, my research has turned up nuthin. I cant imagine that there are too many of those out there. My favorites are the odd ball stampings, like that 2 dash 110 you got. By the way, the knife looks pretty darn good!

Thanks Joe, with the exception of a few opening/closing marks on the tang, the knife does not appear to be used at all. The edge doesn't show a single mark of a sharpening stone on it.

It just had some tarnish on the brass that wiped right off. I notice that the scales on this one are much darker and seem like a denser wood than new 110's, anyone know what it is?

TLC, I would say that those scales are ebony:thumbup:. Preston

I missed winning a 112 with 4 dots and ">" stamped over the 2 dots on the right..that was a nice oddity.
Jeff...doncha hate when everybody calls you "Scott"...I get it all the time:rolleyes:

That wood, when it was first introduced, was refered to as "golden grain macassar ebony" . We switched in the early 1990's to the laminated obeechee wood. We did this to save the golden grain macassar ebony trees i think.
