While discussing a recent purchase with another forumite, he offered this one up at a nice price. I've looked at these online before but never got around to picking one up. I was a mildly intoxicated when finalizing the original deal and agreed to take this one as well. I'm sure glad I did. Nice clean knife....slim and tough. VG-10..black micarta handle and a strong lock. It is bigger than I thought it would be but it came with a nice black leather belt sheath.

OK now it's between that 19932, a new Shallot, Leek, RAM or a new Queen slip joint. Now I'll need an aspirin!

Wow that's a really nice looking knife. I've been wanting one of those for a while but never could find one in person. I guess I'll have to just grab one. :)

This is also the perfect size for a back pocket knife.

I've been thinking about getting one of these since Morrowj posted this thread. I couldn't quit thinking about laser sharp VG10 in a sheeple friendly package. I ordered one from Dave today...... I'm excited.

Yes, it is nice. I wish Kershaw would venture to make more of this style (classic shape lockback with good steel), instead of ever the same AO liner/framelocks :(

Well over the last 12 months we've produced a lot of manual knives. Now they may not fall into the lockback category, but it's been far from the "ever the same AO's" you mention.

A few that come to mind:

Multiple Grooves and Zings
Multiple RAMS
Multiple ENER-G's
Lahar
Skyline
Northside's

vs. AO's

Packrats
OSO- Sweet

I will say, that to do a quality lockback, there would be many tooling dollars attached to the project, so I am unsure if you will see anything made in the USA facility that fits this category.

If you guys do ever decide to do a made in the USA lockback..... I'm thinking Hawk Design. Could you imagine what they would do with the 'ole tried and true lockback notion...... I'm imagining something extremely strange and exciting... a Hawkback, if you will. :D

The pattern of liner/framelock, one hand opener with G10 or steel handles is not appealing to me. Alright, not all are AO, but that was not my point.

I never said it has to be USA made. Why? Made it where you can make it of good (great) quality for reasonable price (no, that doesn't mean under $20).

huugh,

Please feel free to start your own thread about the current Kershaw product line-up. This thread was about the 19932.

thanks.

Speaking of.... how did you decide to carry your 19932? I'm thinking of either putting a lanyard on mine or getting one of those snazzy back pocket sheaths over in the knife maker's FS area.

I just noticed this thread for the first time. Thank you for making it MorrowJ. I have been looking at the 19932 for some time and was on the fence about it. I will definitely pick one of these up soon.

I carried it Saturday on my belt in the sheath it came with. It carried nice but belt carry isn't for me. I carried it in my back pocket for a while and liked it a lot more. I like the idea of a back pocket sheath as well. Thanks for the idea. ;)

I guess it should be mentioned that the 1993-2 has been discontinued for 2009. Sorry about that.

There were right at 1800 of these produced.
