1994 112 Gets A New Lease On Life

Very nice looking knife. Bighaze I like what you did to that 110 also. You mind me asking if you used a hand drill or drill press to drill that hole in there? Did the blade get hot? I wouldn't mind having a 110 with thumb stub but most of the srew on types just don't look right to me.

Wow, nice job on the cleanup and re-blade! I sure love the nickle silver on the 112! I would love to find one myself :)

I hope you find one! I also love the nickel silver more than the brass.
Keep your eyes peeled on "the bay", that's where I found this one for a whopping 10 bucks (of course the blade was horrific).

Thank you. I have a bit of work to do to it still. I am sure you can see the less than ideally peened pivot pin.
I used the original pivot pin...I pin punched it down until I could slip out the original blade, and slip in the new one...
Then used a c clamp and some rubber to protect the bolsters, and pushed the pin back in.
Peened it a little, and called it good for now.

I am going to order some new pivot pin rod and do it properly later. After I add different scales to the handle.
Then I will sand and buff the heck out of it again, and it will be much much prettier :)

I just have to wait for a couple other knives to come in the mail, so I can measure them and determine what I need to order along with the stuff for the modified 112.

The supplies I ordered showed up a few days ago, so today I had time to play :)

Ground off the rivets

Got the scales and lockbar off

Bookmatched Amboyna Burl for the new scales

Took a few minutes to clean her up on the buffing wheel while she was "naked" ;)
Then pinned and peened in the lockbar

Roughed her up a bit to help the epoxy adhere better

Epoxied the new scales on her and used a vice to make sure they were all snug and secure

Then a long visit with the buffing wheel with the green compound...
Gave her a good soaking/cleaning with oil, and she is now done :)

Definately going to edc this one a lot.

Oh, also, I repinned and repeened the blade pivot more properly with some new round stock the other day.... a vast improvement over the reused pivot pin I used the first time!!

I dug out a fg 112 and thought maybe it would give you an idea of one if you haven't seen one.

Wow - that looks great! Thanks for showing us the work-in-progress shots.

Thanks and my pleasure. I was hoping someone would like those photos. I know I would have liked to have seen a bunch like that before doing this project!
