1996 Buck Factory Expermint

Like I said preivously, I really dont give a fly. It's for arguement sake only. You all may not need a COA to validate your purchase, but if if one is offered it may as well be real. If they couldn't offer a real #, and they couldnt have a real signature that save the tree and don't offer the COA. Just sell the knife for what it is.

Wow! Really?????
I suppose I could tell the story of the 119 Factory experimentals again but I dont think it would change. So that means you caught me lying agian. I guess I better up my Ginco. :foot:
By the way, we offered those 119's to members of the Collectors Club for $45 which was about wholesale at the time.
Other details that may be pertinant... Over the few years that we were doing this project, some of the many knives sent to the mold house got "lost". They reappear from time to time on online auction sites without the etch on the blade.
Over the years, I have had numerous requests for copies of the COA and or boxes, sheaths, ect. I honor these requests and the COA's may be on diferent paper and possibly even slightly diferent wording. The boxes may be diferent.
If I remember right, it took a few years to sell all of the 119 experimentals.
I get a real kick out of visiting Chuck's office when there is an LE project that has his signature on the blade. There will be many trays of knives sitting next to his desk, along with the tool used to do the signatures. Sometimes, he will come in over the weekend to try to catch up on the signing. It sounds like you are in a dentist's office when he is signing knives. He gets no help with the signing.
Newer coa's may have Chuck's signature printed on them, I am sure you have seen these?
If the knife is supposed to be signed by Chuck, it is.
I am 99% positive that all letters of authenticity with an ink signature were done by Chuck.
Chuck's signature looks diferent on those documents. I agree. I'll have to have a chat with him about that.

Did some of the 119's get to the "public"? I can guarantee they did because we have had some very used examples come back from the public to the warranty department. Knives get bought and sold, even Buck knives.

Could we have done this better? In hindsite there are a couple little things I may have changed. Should we even have sold them in the first place? Ask the guys that sell them for over $100.
One last thing. Just before the Blade show this year I found 5 more of these knives and brought them to the show to sell to members....for $45 each.

Thank you VERY much Joe. Its always a pleasure to hear from you! Especially in threads like this :D

I think your 100% sure Chuck signed them though. :D

Thank you Joe for validating the concerns I have stated here.

Again, This thread wasn't started to have a bitch session about a collectable knife. It was to show off the knife, but as some threads do, this turned into a topic of conversation in which concerns were addressed and got cleared up. I stated it was for arguement sake but I'm glad to hear some truth and not just opinion.

I never said you were a liar, nor did I ever hear you tell the story of the 119 factory experiment. I wanted to get clarification on concerns I had, and I did. I guess if this statement was made in the beginning this thread wouldnt have gone on for three pages. I hope I haven't affended you.

I have had Chuck and CJ sign lots of my stuff. I am VERY greatful. No two signatures are alike(similar yes alike no). Having MANY hand signed documents from both of the Bucks from the 1980's through the 2000's. They both have differat signatures over the years.( CJ was know in the 1980's as Chuck Jr) I can also attest the no two signatures are a like per-say with my BuckMaster Knives The Authorized History -of- Models 184 & 185 hardback. It's kind of cool to open a few books at the same time and turn to the autograph page. Everyone's signature is a slight bit diffrent every time. Thats probably since they signed 200 pictures ;) Joe Houser already hit on this as Chuck and CJ for that matter do sign all there stuff. WE are all very lucky they will do that.
How many owners of Knife companys do you see do this? Maybe the late Blackie Collins (God Rest his SOUL)..

Here are a few examples of the 13 signatures of all the famous folks in my Hard covers.

After seeing the array of signatures in this thread, I'm quite surprised that Joe would go that far.

;)

The variation in his signatures does not cause me to be unsure by 1%. I need to ask him if his secretary in El Cajon, a super nice woman by the way, ever signed his name on a coa. I am 99% sure she did not.
I know for a fact that if a knife is hand signed Chuck Buck, then it was signed by Chuck Buck's hand. I suppose someone outside Buck could replicate Chuck's sig although I've never seen that yet.

Not offended mbj. I think I was in a "I said it, so that settles it!" mood. Which can get both ugly and humbling.:o My apologies!

No worries.

The issue has never been knife signatures, but paper ones. Knife signatures are irrelevant to the discussion.

The reality is that nobody knows 100 percent for sure about COAs and nobody would or COULD speak up if they knew that staff signed the COAs anyway........meaning the discussion is moot.

And that's the truth.

Another truth is that the idea of having the top man spend hours at his desk signing his name over and over again seems bizarre.......but then the Buck operation has always been quirky in some ways. This is why there are so many odd knives to entertain us collectors.

At least now they have a computerized signature on some things.....that's progress.

All I know is that the signature on my book sure looks legitimate and I'm happy with it......and NOBODY gets near my knife blades with any kind of implement unless they're REMOVING graffiti!!!

Yah- what he said!!!

The knife blade signature issue is interesting in one way, though.

How did it ever get started??

What are we, kids with baseballs standing in line for Mickey Mantle to sign?

LOL!

Many is the time I was ready to buy a nice knife and had to pass it up due to all the scrawling or lettering on the blade.

So it goes.

:)
