This is a set of six sterling silver mounted knives with mother of pearl handles originally manufactured by Wm. Rogers, of Wallingford, CT. They date between 1878 and 1910. They were sold thru Arnold's of Ottumwa, IO. Arnold's moved to Pasadena, CA in 1910 and are still in business. The knives are unbroken; solid in their settings. The handles and not cracked or chipped. The leather case has it's original lining and is worn but solid and serviceable. This is a beautiful set of knives, and the only reason I'm selling it is it's not anything I collect.

$120 delivered. Trades considered.

Like butter knives? Or are they sharp?

These are table knives. They do not have a sharp edge, but the blade is tapered and they have a better edge than my everyday stainless ware. They are not "steak" knives. The pattern is often called a "Tea" or "English Tea".

Wm Rogers is a distinguished, historical, silversmith who's history is readily available. Likewise C.O. Arnolds is still a family owned company dealing in high end and custom jewelry and metalwork. (By coincidence I used to work two doors down from their location.) This is a really nice set of what were once very expensive, custom ordered, knives.
