I have a few of my genuine 19th century self-defense spike tools for sale. This thread will feature the mother of pearl handled tool. You can contact me at billgoodwin1958@gmail.com for further information.

The mother of pearl handled tool measures 5 7/8" total length. The solid metal spike is made from a vintage 19th century butcher's honing steel. It has the original maker's mark stamped which reads "ANCO BRAND Co" over "SHEFFIELD ENGLAND". It retains some of its original tooling grooves. The handle is vintage carved 19th century mother of pearl. The mother of pearl is drilled and the tang of the tool is epoxied deep into the handle. The tool comes with a custom made leather sheath that is wet-formed. This tool is meant to be carried in a pocket or handbag for personal protection.

The mother of pearl handled tool sells for $75 which includes shipping within the US. No international shipping. Payment by Paypal or USPS money order.

I'm working on a few now that will have beaded lanyard straps and smaller sheaths with boot clips. These should deploy fast with easy accessibility. Thanks for the comments knife dragon, always appreciated.

Are these hard enough to work as burnishers?

Yes. They are made from 19th century butcher steels with the original hardened heat treatment. Keep in mind that mother of pearl is a fragile material. The leather handled one is tough and would make an excellent burnisher. I have one myself that I use for that purpose. Thanks for the question.
