Here's a California gull eating alkali flies. They kick up a cloud of flies, put their heads down, and run through the cloud with their mouths open. It's rare to catch photos of this behavior.

Nope! It was a trail of dust on top of a mud puddle. looked really bizarre, looping back and forth like that without connecting at all, so I snapped a photo and it ended up looking like something crazy in the sky!
