Foreward:
To my fellow Sharks and Sharkettes (?!),
I had a recent epeiphany, in that for the first time in >25 years of internet usage, I have found a forum to call home. For the past year or so, I have had an absolute blast chatting: knives, bushcraft, beers, dogs, and life with the various folks here on the forum. In doing so, I have learned a lot about knives, bushcrafting, “munging up the fleamarket”, and life itself. To that end, I submit this thread as a reminder that we are all here under two common auspices / interests – Andy Roy’s knives and exploring the great outdoors . Now, typically, I am not the sentimental type, nor do I particularly prefer to share my inner workings with complete strangers on the internet, but in the spirit of paying it forward, I have decided to post this thread to celebrate our collective common interests and to entice others (who may not be so similarly inclined) to grab your fiddleback(s) and go out and have an adventure!
As with prior GAWs, its all about giving back to the community – have fun with the challenge and make the most out of your adventure!
The Challenge:
Between now and 04 July 2014, grab a fiddleback and go out on an adventure! Be sure to photo document it, and include a brief (1-2 paragraph) synopsis of your adventure detailing how you incorporated your fiddleback(s) into said adventure, along with any other details as you see fit. Post your complete response (pics and synopsis) in this thread no later than 23:59GMT 03 July 2014, to be eligible to win the give away.
The Bounty:
A true every day use bush crafting tool!
EDKarda: Black Locust on nat canvas with a white pinstripe, Tapered Tang, Convex on 5/32” thick 01 steel
The Rules:
The rules are simple (kinda).
1. Be a BladeForums registered member (Gold's better) <-- food for thought, the prize will surely exceed the meager cost of an annual gold membership
2. Have a join date prior to 5/1/2014
3. Go on an outdoor adventure!
4. Post at minimum 2 pics, where a *fiddleback* is being used OUTSIDE on your adventure, in a "bushcrafty" manner!
5. Post a synopsis / summary of your adventure!
6. Be sure to include in your post “I’m in for the epic summer give away!”
7. Be 18 or older and ensure that receiving a knife with a OAL blade length of ≥3” is legal in your state
8. On 04July2014 @ 1000AM EST, I will use ramdom.org to select a number (based on max # of posts) to determine the winner.
9. Knife will be shipped the following day via insured USPS 2-day priority
10. The winner must pledge to NOT SELL THE KNIFE for one year… Honestly folks, if you are lucky enough to win, keep it and USE it. It’s a free country and I cannot control what will ultimately occur, but should you sell or flip your prize the good karma gods will smite you…PERIOD
11. The drawing will only occur if folks participate; let's try to get atleast 10 unique entries -- if we don't manage to generate the minimum number of entries
eek
, it is at my sole discretion to close out the GAW at any time due to lack of participation
In closing, good luck & have fun... see you all on the 4th for the drawing!
Cheers,
WJT
