With all the talk of the ZT 0909 lately I'm curious. Does anyone know about when this change took place? When ZT went from the deeply scalloped scales to the just rounded off handle edges, and why? I like the original, and have both versions, but was just wondering why the change was needed. Thanks in advance.

I didn't even know there was more than one version or which one I have. Could you post a pic of them both?

Please show us the difference side by side.

It could just be a cost saving measure. I know the 0550 was internally milled to reduce weight but they stopped doing that at some point to reduce manufacturing cost.

I wish I could, but I don't know how to post pics. Just google the ZT0909 images, and you will see the two different handle scales. The deeply cut ones are first gen, and the beveled outer edge ones are second gen. I'd be willing to bet they did that to cut costs, and time. The 1st gen are machined, the 2nd gen look done by hand.

I have pics, but don't know how to post them. I'm sorry.
Edit: hexenjager I saw your pic......yours is a 1st gen.
