Ok guys, is 8 days enough time to wait on my end to expect my knife?
DC# s checked out sent same day as usual, I used 2-3 day priority which cost only around 5 bucks, my knife arrived within 2 days.
Was informed today that since only 1st class was used there was no way to track the knife GRRRRRRR damn I hate waiting, I also hate it for the guy who lost his knife. Ron

First class mail can sometimes take a lot longer than 8 days. It's more likely to be delayed than lost at this point.

I recently mailed a rifle from Denver to PA via Priority, Insured with Delivery Confirmation. It took 2 1/2 weeks to get there! Can't imagine how long it would have taken had I mailed it 1st Class.

ALL my priorty mail arrives in less than 4 days, in fact that's the longest it's ever taken, cost a cpl bucks more but worth every cent IMO. Ron

...You can DO that??? I thought mailing firearms was a big NO! (as in violation of federal law)

Please enlighten the ignorant (in this instance, me).

The strange thing about mail is that it might have only taken a couple of days. It might also have taken a few weeks.

Anyway, the trade worked out fine in the end, and I MUST point out the extensive efforts on the part of John (Copfish) to follow through and make this right.
Many offers to send me another knife, send mine back, whatever it took to make me happy.
Thanks John you are a great guy. Ron

Well I mailed a letter, very neatly printed, those that I've dealt with can attest to the cleanness of they way I create labels and letters, and this one was mailed out from NY where I work, to Detroit Hilton hotel, mailed out on July 5th, now the holiday may account for some delay...but man it's not there yet! and myself and the fellow I sent it to there are bugging the hotel most everyday to see if it arrived. I even faxed them a copy of what the letter looked like, as I put a small picture of a wolf laying in a snow scene on one side of the envelope to make it stand out a little, not good, but sure has taken some kind of detour, I also faxed to the carrier station where the letter would have been sorted to be delivered on the off chance that the mailman would remember seeing it being brought back as a Return to Sender type of deal, as the fellow might not have been a guest at the time the letter arrived, though the people there know him quite well from his repeat visit to their hotel, so he's well known and they are used to getting letters/packages delivered to his attention, nothing out of the ordinary for them.

So July 5 and it's July 30th, no show, I'm very grateful that he is an understanding fellow, we talk almost each day. If the letter with the money order doesn't arrive/cashed in 60days, the USPS will issue a new one to me, after I file a form, but it goes from the date of issue and not the date of filing, I asked them about that today and they said to give it some more time...fingers crossed!

It has never taken over 2 days for any priority mail of mine except once and it took 3.
You can ship long guns through the mail just not hand guns.

Gary,
In all honesty, this is the first package I have had lost there.
That is one reason why I ALWAYS send packages Priority Insured with Delivery Confirmation.
I don't know that it'd actually get replaced/paid if they lose it, but the "threat" and the Delivery Confirmation makes it traceable...
It'll get there...;)

When I've used Priority Mail, it's typically taken 2 days for the package to reach its destination. Occasionally it's taken 3. However, I've had one package take 8 days, one take 13 days, and worst of all, one take 20 days. All three were sent with delivery confirmation, so I could see that they'd actually been picked up and had entered the system.

As far as delivery confirmation goes, they sometimes have not bothered to do an initial scan on the item, so it never shows up in the tracking website.

I have insurance and tracking numbers, and even that is no guarantee if some schlub does not enter the numbers correctly

You are paying for a service, if they do no deliver on the time you can get a refund. They usually give you postage credit. This doesn't work on out of country claims because customs can introduce delays. However it should make it to customs in the verified time.

Last week I got a box that had been sent over a year and a half ago from Oregon. The contents of it were missing and in place of it was some dirty laundry and personal items from a commercial fisherman from Kodiak. From the pay stubs the stuff had been put in the box the first of this month.I called his last employer but it seems he is out on a trawler on the chain.Go figure !
