Ok, I know this topic has been covered multiple times, but my search hasn't shown the any answers or info comparing the models she likes. She is tiny, only 4'8'' and for size reference, the Kershaw shuffle fits her hand though she could go a little smaller.
I don't know how the spacing is on the choils on the Cold Steels, and the Svord doesn't have any but does the lock security ultimately rely on her grip strength?
We are also open to other suggestions.

So far she is interested in:
Cold steel mini tuff lite
Cold steel micro recon 1 spear
Svord mini peasant
Opinel no.7
Maybe a slim no.8?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's hard to judge the size by looking at online pictures. What I noticed is that some images show what appears to me to be a very small man's hand and it looks like a big old knife. It's small and can be considered a 3 finger knife to someone with medium or large hands, and a 2 finger knife to those with an XL size glove.

Ontario Rat 2 in pink? Always a good choice. Also a Sog Flash 1, a Spyderco Ambitious or Spyderco Grasshopper can all be had for less than $50. If none of those tickle her fancy +1 Svord mini peasant!

My wife is the same way, I can only speak to my experience but this is what I discovered, she loves the Delica (Purple) even though it's not the thinnest or the smallest, but because it was the overall best knife "in pretty options".

I think she (your wife) needs to take a couple minutes and handle each of the knives she likes, she may discover that the micro recon is too small (same as I think) or that the Mini Tuff (which out of your list is the best option IMO) is boring which will mean it will end up in a drawer somewhere never to see the light of day again. Find something she loves to look at and likes in hand (and pay for it yourself) and you will never have to justify a purchase (of yours) to her again. Just be ready when she decides she wants an Al Mar Ultralight ($100), because she will, if the bug bites her too.

My wife and my daughter are both average size. My wife likes her Dragonfly, now I need to find one with bright colors so she can find it easier in her purse. My daughter like her mini-griptilian, now she carries a Spyderco Tenacious.

I had her look at a mini grip and she isnt much of a fan of the lighter pink, though she does like the black blade/clip on it. The Rat may not look as friendly at her place of employment, so that is prob going to be a camp/yard work knife for her.

I also forgot that she liked the spyderco squeak and delicas, but have to find a brighter pink like the cold steel/svord mini.

Now to get her take on the dragonfly tattoo. I am also thinking of having Opinel customize a no.7 for her. It may not be the actual pink she wants, but the message should more than make up for that.

Thanks again and keep the ideas coming.

My wife carries a Victorinox Secretary, super light en decent slipjoint.
Good luck with the search ;)

My wife has two SAKs. The first one I bought for in her car. The second, she picked out at a gun show. She always has that one.

My wife also uses a SAK secretary. She loves the orange peeler :).

And, personally I have both a svord mini, and an opinel #6. Both of those actually fit my hands just fine (I wear L -XL gloves), so id consider the #6 as well. And the svord does depend a bit on grip strength, but its much more from your arm. I've never felt like either of my svords were going to close on me at any point while using them.

Good luck :).

My wife likes her Opi 5 and 6.Great for garden duties, easy to sharpen.Cheap as chips.

My girlfriend has a rotation that includes :

Dragonfly
Balance
Pink Squeak
Pink mini grip
Meerkat
Spyderco Cat
I think I'm forgetting one too

Bill, did she see the Dragonfly yet? Your idea of an Opinel with some sculpting might be a good choice too. I gave my wife her choice of any knife on various retailers. She really liked the Emerson CQC7-A (spear point), the Rat2, and the Dragonfly. She settled on the Dragonfly as it was the easiest to put in her pocket and stow in the purse when she is out and about.

I gave my wife a gerber covert mini AUTO, made in the USA s30v
I really like the auto Convert's too. But another vote for a purple Spyder Native from me since she doesn't like the pink on Grip's and don't think Jersey is auto friendly. Damn i'm loving the native.

My wife is not much bigger than yours (4'10"). Her hands are very small. I had given her a Mini Griptilian but it was too large. Women's clothes tend to be for fashion (even jeans) and not for practicality (even those that are supposed to be so). They have almost useless pockets. Plus, their purses are usually crammed with all manner of things, to the point of bursting. My wife discovered my FRN Spyderco Dragonfly and fell in love with it. Now she is never without it. It is the perfect balance of small size and large performance and light weight (very light). You can get them in pink, orange, yellow, black, gray, green, etc. I just saw a pink one on a major online retailer's website last night.
There have been many other men on this forum that have had similar experiences with wives, girl friends, and Dragonflies.

As far as a pink Delica, which is also bright, that online seller that is over priced in California has them in stock.
