1st Knife for the Misses

Hey NJBillK,

If you need some size reference, check out this Youtube video from Spydiechick. She is a small woman and in her review of the Spyderco Dragonfly you can really see how big this small knife is in her hands. This might help you decide what size knife your wife might need.

Thanks TD, that worked great. She will see that later since I'm at work atm... Thanks for all of the help folks! She is really digging the tattoo as well!

This is what you need right here. This knife is cute and tiny. It fits in her front pocket very neatly and concealed. It's fun to use and is pretty. My wife loves her's.
It's the Microtech UTX-70. I found this one at thehollowgrind.com and that is where her's and mine came from too.

I actually got my wife to pose with it in her pocket. It almost looks like a little pen clipped in her pocket.

My husband and I have lots of folders, but I prefer something more traditional normally. With small hands and the small pockets on my jeans, it was hard for me to find something that was easy to carry and useful for my daily tasks. However, I recently picked up and Al Mar Hawk Ultralight and I absolutely love it. Hasn't left my pocket since it's arrival. It weighs less than an ounce and came razor sharp. It is about 3" closed and fits a lot of blade in a slim, lightweight package. Can be picked open or has a thumb stud as well. Sadly it only comes in black and a special run of brown. I like the spyderco knives, but they always took up too much room in my narrow and shallow pockets, although they are great knives. Let us know what she chooses.

That, yes. I have to angle my Mini Grip to fit in some of my pockets. Rat II barely fits and the Hold Out III I got recently fits okay mainly because of the way the pivot end of the handle is angled. I stopped carrying my Delica ages ago because it kept falling out of my pocket if I had to bend over or flex my pockets in any way and I suspect it was a combination of the length of the handle and that old Spyderco integral clip. I always laugh when folks say a particular knife fits well in the watch pocket of their jeans. Know what fits in the "watch pocket" of my jeans? A Gerber Dime. And just barely in some of them. I lost a Vic Classic out of one of those pockets somehow a while back. LOL

Hope OP is/was able to find a knife/knives to fit his wife's taste, hands and carry method. I suppose one option might be whatever knife she likes carried in some kind of sheath attached to the strap of whatever bag(s) she carries. Then, no worries about the pocket issue and more handy than digging around inside the bag. I carry a Vic Huntsman that way.
