Here is more of a tactical type knife I cut out. Did a full flat grind on it and I think it turned out pretty good. This is only mild steel as I am just practicing for now but, I got some 1084 & a bit of CPM154 coming from the steel baron. I hope to start my first real knife soon.

I was practicing more on keep the edge even, and I'll tell you a digital caliper really helps lol. I kept the edge around .05. But in another thread of mine people are saying thats not needed for heat treating. May take it down to .03 or so. I'd like to get the plunge a little cleaner but, I guess thats what practice is for.

Thanks. The jimping is a little rough and the plunge I would like cleaner but, that's why I'm practicing. Picked up a set of files and did jimping on the other blank I made and turned out really good.

Quick question, after heat treating, how far would I have to flat grind the blade before the initial edge is made and sharpened? Do you full flat grind all the way to center? Or stop at a certain point then put the edge on and sharpen?
