I'm looking to get my first spyderco. I want a full spyderedge blade, it's for EDC and I want to stay around $80.00. I was looking at the atlantic salt with yellow handle. Any recommendations on a first spyderco with spyderedge?

What do you do every day? Or to the point, what do you expect to do with the knife each day?

I've got a Delica 4 with the spydie edge. Awesome stuff. I'd go with that, though you may like the larger Endura. But for me the Delica is just right. I also have a spydie edge on a Military, Paramilitary and stainless Police, but those are more money than you are talking.

Its hard not to like the Delica SE, for those who have seen the light about a serrated edge for EDC.

I love my waved endura 4 with spyderedge. (my first full SE blade)

I would recommend one based on my experiences with the knife. a waved version may be hard to find as they are on the chopping block, but the regular one should be just as great.

Any of the salts, the H1 has some work hardening done due to the serrations getting ground and just gets better with each use and sharpening.

Will this be in addition to or instead of a PE EDC?

In addition too a ZT 0350 PE. As far as what I'm going to use it for I'm not sure, but I'm sure it will come in handy. I just want a decent SE blade to carry.

I'd go with the Delica4 with the SE. Small package with big cutting ability (for it's size). Short, light, easy to carry n addition to a bigger knife. I'd stay with the VG10 steel for that one.

don't. The chinese and japanese factories don't do serrations as well as the Golden factory.

:jerkit: My SE Delica and Tasman are made in Japan and I prefer those serrations over my Golden made SE Para.

I have to disagree with that statement. The serrations on the Byrd Cara Cara and Meadowlark Rescues are the best serrations Spyderco has put out since the serrations on their older Seki models. They cut and sharpen up like a plain edge and are more suitable for fine cutting than the serrations on most of the current lineup. They are similar to the serrations found on the Dodo which is probably out of the OP's price range.

WVDAVE- If you are not against a Chinese made product, which by your consideration of the Tenacious I am guessing you aren't, try out the Byrd Meadowlark Rescue or Cara Cara Rescue. The serrations are FANTASTIC.

Gotta put my vote inf or the Endura 4. OBTW SEKI made Spydercos have some of the best serrations I have ever seen.

Weird, Sal posted on Spyderco forums saying that the serrations on the Seki and Chinese models haven't quite been perfected grinding the spyderedge. Musta been a while back then.

I particularly like the Cricket, Dragonfly and Ladybug in serrated edge! Native, Delica and Endura waved are close second.

Got a quote or link? I would be curious to see that post, especially if Mr. Glesser himself said it. Spyderco's serrated folders were first produced in Seki. They have had over two decades to evolve. I can't see the Japanese facilities that Spyderco uses not having perfected the spyderedge in that time.

The only serrated knives from Spyderco's China lineup that I've used are the Byrds that Mr. Glesser sent me to test. I have yet to try a Persistence or Tenacious. The serrations on those two knives, and likewise on the Dodo, are the style I have found superior. They cut fibrous or heavy material like a serrated knife. They cut through 2 inch polypropylene/dacron rope in seconds and slice through loose rag with the ease of a plain edge. They are a breeze to sharpen on a sharpmaker but any ceramic rod would do as the teeth are not deep or extremely "pointy."

To the OP, again, give the serrated Meadowlark Rescue or Cara Cara rescue a shot. They are excellent inexpensive entry level serrated knives for someone who is on the fence about carrying a serrated knife.

Sypderedge on the tenacious is very good and very aggessive!!!

Knives+++ has the c67se in stock disc.model from 05 or 06 great serrations
