1st use of BK16 FFG----can it baton ? PICS !

Not really surprised that it was up to the task. The tweeners actually look like they could make very effective combat knives. Medium sized, lightweight and strong as hell.

Blade's not long enough. According to the folks in the know, the minimum blade length to get to something vital is 6". All of the BKT Shorts fall under that.

Now, the BK18 on the other hand............

The bk2 is under 6" and seems tougher than anything I could break

Its my understanding that its not about toughness, Its about not having the length to hit vital organs and such. That is why the bk2 is billed as the campanion. That is why the BK7 is the redesign of USMC.

Moose, can we see some barely legal age Becker pronz? POINH!

As soon as I hold the first proto, I'll tell you all about it. Until then, its just a paper drawing, or CAD drawing. Its not real.

I strongly disagree with that. While reliably being able to stab someone in the heart might be hard with a short blade, stabbing someone in the heart is not an easy task anyway and I have rarely heard of anyone who actually aims for that in a fight. Vital striking points that are easy to reach with even the tiniest blade on the other hand, like the jugular vein, will be a much better target. Common tactics include quick slashes and jabs to inflict pain and light damage, and then moving in for the killing strike. Other popular lethal striking points that are easy to reach with a short blade are the kidneys and liver. A shorter and more lightweight blade will also be much quicker in hand.

What blade length is preferred is of course up to each individual. Some like long knives and some like short knives. And in the end size doesn’t matter too much, only how you use it ;)

For me longer blades are mostly useful for chopping wood and other outdoor stuff.

Reference: I had knife fighting training in the army. I think however I should mention that I have never been in an actual knife fight nor do I ever wish to be in one.

I hope I didn’t appear rude in my answer to you. I just wanted to share my points on the matter :)

I'm not drunk, I'm just hungry, getting through a nasty cold, and on a natural high. As we've seen before, the last one is dangerous if not properly controlled.

And the sense I was making is that if it's a BK18, then 18 is the minimum age anyone (in the United States) can legally pose for a nude photo. I personally think the maximum age should be about 30-35, and natural, getting tired of silicone news stories...

Ethan receives his info from US Special Forces (5th, 3rd, and 7th Group), retired British SAS and a couple of CIA former Spooks. I've met a few of them, and for those that have had specialized training for using a knife in an offensive weapon, they know their stuff.

The SAS and CIA spooks creep me the hell out too, btw.

The guys we met at SHOT, according to their credentials, work within the same circle, but are currently active, said the same thing. That and the handles are too slick for them.

Not trying to reinvent the wheel, just regurgitating what I was told by guys that use knives in that capacity.

Well, like I said it's up to each individual. That was just my opinion. The slick handles I can agree on though

And just to add another note to this, there is more to a combat knife than just fighting capability. Utility is just as important. If I were to go to war tomorrow I would most likely bring my BK7. Not because I would prefer it over a shorter blade in a fight, but because that is the blade length I have the most experience with and would be most comfortable handling. Also depending on the biome of the combat area it could be useful for many of the wilderness chores I like to practise as a civilian :)

I just got that pic loaded, so now not only is a 4th tweener coming, but it's going to be shipped with stainless hardware, micarta, and a bottle of new castle brown ale??
