I was out in Colorado for a few days of snowboarding and I made a detour to the Spyderco Factory Store. I spent a good 45min browsing around at all of the great stuff. It was a completely awesome experience. I felt guilty because I stopped in during lunch, but Cody was a champ and answered all of my questions and pulled out just about every knife in the case so that I could check them out. I was really impressed with his knowledge of the history of the company and got alot out of his explanations of the differences in the steels used. After all of that time and attention I felt like the only decent thing to do was to spend some money. I picked up a Caly III and it is absolutely the sharpest knife I've ever purchased straight out of the box. Even sharper than the customs that I own. In any event a great experience. I recommend you stopping by when you're in the area. Sal, if you happen to read this let Cody know that the guy asking about the Native with the SS handle and plain edge found one on Ebay. I'm sad that you don't still offer that pattern, but at least I tracked one down.

They we're about 25% off. The biggest benefit is to be able to see just about everything currently available, so you can make a decision. It was just nice seeing that many Spyderco knives in one place. Based on what I learned I have made a few decisions about knives that I thought I wanted and don't and about a few knives that I didn't think I wanted that I do now. You can absolutely get most all of their knives cheaper online and I don't think they care where you buy as long as you're buying their knives.

Hmmmm, spring break trip maybe? Thanks for sharing your experiences with us stagman, I for one, really appreciate the information. They didn't have any protos on display did they?

:)

Not that I recall. They did have a great Native display of all of the different iterations of the knife. They also have a lot of modified Spyderco customs, but most of those are of the Byrd line. They are an authorized Randall Made dealer as well and they have awesome prices. Not sure when they do it, but I was told that they have a big sale every year at some point, so you might give them a call and try to time a visit around the sale.

I visited the store once, and they were very helpful. Like you said, the gentleman (can't remember their names) and the lady pulled out nearly every knife from the case for me to look at.

"Kid in a candy store" does not even being to describe my excitement that day!
