Can you folks recommend to me where to buy and what type of belts in 1x42 and say 50-180 grit ?

I need some belts that are good for hogging off hardened steel, Like the files that i make a lot of knives from. Ive been getting 400-800 grit from barbkat which seem to work ok for the final finishing other than they seem to clog fast.

Anyway i need some good starting grit belts. The ones ive been getting from Sears and Ace for hogging leave a lot to be desired.

Also if its a place i can use paypal that would be a nice plus.

THANKS !

Tracy at USAKnifemakers sells a few in 1x42". Doesnt stock a lot of them though.

Scott at TruGrit has plenty in 1x42". Thats who I bought from before getting the 2x72".

He ships out pretty quick too.

Best of luck, they are out there!!

Did you check with barbkat for the coarser belts ? I bought some coarse ones from her years ago ( before I got my Bader ) and they worked belt , as did her coarse ceramic 4 x 36 belts.

Enco
they are doing many promotions to drum up business.
i buy almost all my 1X42 belts from Enco.

The ones from grizzly are junk IMO. I've gotten from barbkat in 50 grit before I think. She has to have them made, but shipping time wasn't really any longer than when I got other orders.

I got in a flyer from www.traves.com and they have 1" X 42" belt for under a dollar and if you buy 10 it's under $.90 to $.55.
They only have 80 to 240 grit.
