2.25lb "Made in W. Germany"

It is pretty gratifying when the recipient listens to what I know about the history of the axe in question. When I can tell that the information is not really all that interesting, it makes me want my axe back. But that's only happened once. The others have been a real joy.
I know the feeling-
Forced patina looks good, I've used it a couple times on hawks I made. I've been thinking about using "Browning solution" and bleach instead of Blue and bleach to see if the results would be different.
I would guess this axe was made for the export market being stamped in "2 1/2" lbs?
Nice job -Take care

Does anyone know if you can get a W Germany axe in a 4# flavor? I've only been able to find 1.5s and 2.25s. Also, who actually manufactured this axe? Lastly, nice job on that handle M3mphis...

Dear Broady, I have a "4" single bit axe head by "Atco," that also says, "Made W GERMANY." I will be selling it on Ebay soon, hopefully.

I do not know how old it is. Maybe someone can tell me....

Looks great, Whats the story on the haft? Did you make that?

Ohh, And I want to be your friend:D!

Thanks Garry. I believe that was a 28" straight single bit handle. One of those that is intended for a full size head. I just reshaped it and shaved it way down.

Nice axe Bro, great gift. Love the nessie, my favourite style of
knife.R
The knife looks to be a take off of D.H.Russell's award-winning design from 1958. The Grohmann #1 carbon has always been my favourite.
