Looking for a recommendation for a good quality, lightweight tent for my son and I. He's a Webelow, crossing over to Boy Scouts next year. Needs to be big enough for me (6') and my son, now 10, but will probably outgrow me! Thanks! William
Enjoy the ride.... I got a simple A frame EUREKA Timberline for me and son. It worked well and comes in both 2 and 3 "man" versions. Fairly cheap is the way to go in my opinion on the off chance that he finds the outdoor life not his cup of tea. Yeah, it happens. Most early BSA stuff is regular camping so light weight (ie expensive backpacking stuff) is not to big a deal but get something with quality cause it willl be used hard. Campmor is a good starting place. Ah, and when your eagle goes off to college he will escape with most of your stuff anyway.....
Sharpguytoo,
What do you mean he may not keep up with the outdoor life?!!! He's been my excuse to start playing with knives and fire and stuff. He better not abandon me.
Take a look at the REI quarterdome. My son bought one two years ago and it is a great mix of roominess, lightweight, and small packed size.
I'm 6'1 and fit in it fine.
I like my Eureka, no compliants with it. Fit my wife and a I with our little one(3 at the time) no problems. Nakamichi is the name, I think??? Not too expensive either which is a plus.
Have fun, can't wait till my son(s) can start Scouts.
