2.5" or smaller traditional knife

I'm not understanding the 'no nailnick' criteria given that we are on the traditional forum? That pretty much takes the knife out of the realm of traditional according to the forum rules. Oh and rules out all the suggestions given so far.

I guess I should have said that I don't mind a nail nick, I just want to be able to open it without using my nails, like this-

I just measured the blade on my Beer Scout. It is 2 and 5/8 inches long from tip to where the tang meets the bolster. If you were to modify the blade by taking off the last 1/8 inch it would be legal for Chicago.
 
The Case Sway Back knives are a nice option. About 3 1/8" closed with a main blade under 2 1/2". Even the damascus offerings, which are really nice, come in under your budget number. The Gent is single blade, the Jack two blade. A Google search will bring up many listings.

I have to second this recommendation. These are extremely nice knives. Either the single blade Gent or two blade Jack will be a wonderful carry.
