I agree with this sentiment...assuming that you have all of your financial bases covered elsewhere. You can't take it with you, and if your own, your family's, and any legacy requirements are already taken care of...why not?I say go for it! If its important to you then that's all that matters. Many of us are not able to participate like this. Nice collection as well.
I've never paid more than $1500 for a knife, but in that particular instance and others which have come close, I knew that what I was purchasing was special on one or more levels...and in rare instances when I have sold a valuable piece I did not lose money.
I also have artwork in my home, some of it original. Money is to be enjoyed, not simply a tool to ensure that our basic needs are covered.
While I raised my eyebrows, personally, at the price for this piece, it's obviously something you desire...and in this is no better or worse than a fine watch or firearm, imho.
Follow your muse. Just know the pros and cons before pulling the lever.
